I have. The vet twice, never the linc though.

I saw some crappy things and the people are good fans but all in all....its a place that has been built up by a few individual events and from all the glorification they get from nfl films about how tough the fans are.

The cowboys broadcasters comment all the time how the linc is nothing like the vet and how the noise is not the same.

Having been to the vet to watch the cowboys get whipped twice I can say I dont even think that place was that loud.

love the rocky statue though.

That's horrible. I can't imagine it's as bad as everyone says, but they DO HAVE A JAIL for a reason I suppose. Aren't the Giants fans just as bad?

I would beat the crap out of some eagles fan who cheered when Irvin was motionless.

It would be an honor.

I've been to the Vet twice and the Linc once. I had lower level seats, so it wasn't a bad experience. They tend to talk alot, but if the Boys play well, they can't say much.

you would think you would, but when its the entire stadium, its a little hard and they all gang up on opposing teams fans whether they know each other or not. Its sick.

Actually going to a Cowboy game at giant stadium, isn't so bad. I find going to a Cowboy vs jet game, at giant stadium to be much worse. The jet crowd is younger, dumber and drunker, so there are much more fights at a Cowboy vs jet game, than there is at a Cowboy vs giant game, but I still hate the giants more.;)

Been their plenty of times. Never had an instance where at least a few people didn't have something to say about my attire.

But I have not come close to one fight. Of course I'm not exactly an easy target. ;)

I went with my uncle when I was 11. He's a 6'6 220 lb eagles fan. Some guy spilled a beer on me, my uncle beat the piss out of him, and we got thrown out. Awesome, awesome memory.

The first time I went to see the Cowboys play was when I was 11 years old at Veteran Stadium in Philly vs. the Eagles. We lost 14-16 (here's the boxscore http://www.pro-football-reference.co...8510200phi.htm) and on my way out of the aisle, some Eagles fan slowly poured what was left of his beer all over my Cowboys jacket. I was 11!
I've hated those fans and that team ever since. And finally, this year, I came home by moving to Dallas, TX, where I was always meant to live!

Let's Go Cowboys!!! Time to hand out beat-down #3

This is exactly why I haven't been to a game since my boys were toddlers. I would never subject my 10 yr old to that crowd and I couldn't bare to leave him behind.

Then there's the 2nd time I went to a game at the Vet, in 2002. We got killed, and man oh man were the fans brutal. Here's the boxscore for that game: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200209220phi.htm
I parked in FDR park and walked over to the game with my girlfriend, dressed in Cowboys Jersies (Emmitt was going to break the record that year so I had the Navy 22 on) dodging insults and hot dog buns all the way through the park and into the stadium. Inside I met up with a bunch of my friends, a good mix of Boys and Eagles fans. That helped keep me safe. But as the game progressed and the fans drank more, I saw two Cowboys fans get the ever-lovin' snot beat out of them by 6 or 7 Eagles fans. All of the fans were LLLOOOAAADDDEEEDDDAAAHHH!!! and the Boys fans were mouthing very loud about "5 Time Super Bowl Champs"........and drunk Eagles fans don't like that. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, every single time any Cowboys fan would stand up, or walk up or down the stairs, the entire section around them would start chanting "*******, *******" until they were out of sight. We hustled out of the game and made it back to our car without any problems at all, but most of that is because I don't make eye contact or get loud there.

And trip #3, my first at The Linc (sans a Springsteen concert a month or two before this game....beautiful field, by the way.) was my favorite of all of them. Sporting a Barber jersey and feeling good about our team (we were 6-1 coming into that game) I hooked up with a few friends in a primarily Eagles fan tailgate party. We had a lot of fun and talked a lot of trash. The game was great, here's the boxscore: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200711040phi.htm We killed them and by the middle of the 3rd qtr, the stadium was taken over by Cowboys fans. I had my feet on the seat in front of me cause the obnoxious Eagles fan who was sitting there left when TO started flapping his wings after a TD. He missed an iconic moment in this great rivalry.
jwitten.jpg

He was coming right at us and we were screamin' our heads off!
The second best part of the game was when the fans booed the firework guy for setting fireworks off after a late field goal by the Eagles when the game was way out of reach. I'll never forget it.
Anyway, here's my best tip for anyone going to a game at the Linc...............Never, ever, ever, ever, ever go to the bathroom by yourself if you're wearing Cowboys gear! I made that grave mistake at halftime, punch drunk from the drubbing we were laying on them, and from the beer I was drinking for 3 hours. Some jerk behind me in line kept pushing me and swearing at me and calling me all kinds of bad stuff. I wasn't saying anything at all. I was trying to ignore him and act like I didn't care that he was shoving me, but I was getting to the tipping point. After the 3rd shove I realized that I was surrounded by Eagles fans, cement and porcelin. Not a good combination. Luckily, some mature fane shouted out "Just leave him alone man, he's just rooting for his team. Don't be an ******." And nothing happened.........at all. I went to the bathroom, and left, and not another word was said. I never saw the guy that talked some sense into the crowd, but if he's reading this.........THANK YOU.

You shouldn't have to fear for your life to go see an NFL game. Away or home.

I'd be embarrassed if Dallas fans had the reputation that Eagles fans do.

If you want a fun "away" game experience go see the Pack/Cowboys. They do it up right there and the fans are very nice and friendly. GREAT environment there.

I went to a Vikings Eagles game at the Vet. I yelled "COWBOYS!!" in the ramp, no one did anything. That stuff all overrated. My friend is a Viking fan and the Vikes were leading most of the game and he was being extremely loud, vulgar and boisterous against the Eagles fans and no one did anything.

Worst Fan Experience + Best Fan experience

Been to 2 cowboy games at the Vet. 1st time I was a kid in the 80's. We had just moved to the Philadelphia area and I got a lot of grief at school for wearing Cowboy gear, so I knew to be discrete at the game. We wore no blue and were pretty non-commital during the game, but when Danny White got injured, we didn't cheer like the animals surrounding us and some guys above us started throwing cups of beer at my father + I so we decided to leave.

Total scum.

2nd Time my girlfriend who was a marketer for the ill-fated CBS-Fox Video affililiation in the 90's got me onto the field with a press pass. I was so overcome by being among the cowboys during warm-ups that I didn't notice that the flimsy string on the field pass had given way during the wind in pre-game or someone had just yanked-it. None-the-less, the pass only gave me the right to be on the filed during pre-game and half-time and I was told to watch the rest of the game from empty seats or the tunnel by the guys that issued it to me. A cop in one of the tunnels told me that I could be kicked out of the stadium if I couldn't find the pass and certainly wouldn't be let back on the field.

Luckily I had my Fox Sports hat on that the press guys gave me in the trailer and as I was walking around the field wondering what to do, a camera guy yelled at me to pick up a light reflector to help him with a pre-game interview that they were conducting. Being somewhat of a photographer, I've used light reflectors in still shots before, but never for TV or video. After a few corrections, I got it down and we did a few takes.

I then asked the camera guy if I could help him out during the game and he said that he was in the endzone and didn't have any help keeping the still camera men out of his camera angle during the the game. So I spent the entire game clearing SI and local photographers out of about a 10 yard gap at the back of the endzone, often using Philly cops to help me at one side or the other (the same cops that could have kicked me out of the stadium at any moment if they noticed that my pass was gone).

Saw a couple of goal line stands - the sound was incredible, much louder than I remember from high school and the trash talking was clearly audible over the crowd noise. Woodson returned an int right in front of me for the length of the field, it was an amazing experience - only blighted by the constant fear of being ejected and the intense bladder pain from 2 pregame coffees and the inability to use the bathrooms for the entire game, being stuck on the field.
