Who's better: Gurley or Gordon?

I'm not ashamed to say I'm a "Gurley mon".

I'm not bothered by the ACL injury Gurley sustained. With medical science being what it is, the ACL isn't as devastating as it used to be, and I blame Georgia for rushing Gurley back into the line up and giving him a significant workload, which, I believe, caused the ACL injury. He really wasn't in football shape having sat out several games.

I wouldn't be upset if the Cowboys picked Gordon, but I'm not sold on him like I am Gurley. I was impressed how he ran against Auburn in the Bowl game, but that's not saying much. Auburn's defense was atrocious. Gordon could be another Jamaal Charles or he could be another Darren McFadden.

I just think teams will have to game plan more for Gurley than Gordon, and that will create a pick-your-poison option for the Cowboys (either Gurley or Dez, which are you going to defend).

To me this is a Barry Sanders-Emmitt Smith debate. Sanders would provide the 80-yard sprints to the end zone, but the Lions would usually end up losing. Emmitt was more a "death-by-a-thousand-cuts guy." Six yards here, four yards here, ten yards here. Then, because the defense is so depleted, he'd break off a 13-yard touchdown. I envision Gurley the same way.

Gordon may take your breath away but Gurley will take your will away.

I think it's important that the Cowboys have a back on the roster who can close a game out. Now, if they feel as if they already have that guy or not, I don't know. However, I do think it's important that we have this guy. Assuming we do not, then the guy you pick should be a back who can do this for us. This is critical IMO.

It is really hard not to love Gurley. He is like a force of nature when you watch him run. However, there is one thing that really worries me about him. He takes a lot of hits. He is not good, at all, in getting down, avoiding hits or just making that slight body adjustment that you would often see Emmitt do to simply prevent a player from getting a good square hit on him. That does worry me. In College, you can get away with that. In the NFL, I don't know. I worry that his career could be pretty short.

Who do you think is the better RB?

I know there are a lot of Gurley fans on the message board, but I see a lot of talk about Gordon being the better back.

Personally, I think they are both fantastic backs, just in different ways. Gurley has a hard nosed running style, while Gordon has the ability to take it to the house on seemingly any play.

If they are both there and you had to pick one, who do you take?

We'll find out in about a year. Until then, it's just speculation. Offseason.

Gurley is both the big play and the grind it out guy.

Well, I keep watching the two of them in games, and keep coming away thinking Gordon looks better, so I guess I just have to go with that. Not that I'd be unhappy with landing Gurley.

It's not exactly a fair comparison, but look at what each of them did against Auburn in 2014. Gurley looked fine coming back from suspension, but Gordon absolutely obliterated Auburn.
