Who's on the Tony Romo bandwagon now?

If Bledsoe is sacked three times in the first half of the Jacksonville game I wouldn't be surprised to see Romo make his first appearance in an NFL game. I don't think Parcells will do it unless he feels he has t do it, but the first game is important.

I need to clarify this. Making an appearance is not the same thing as taking over. Parcells may decide he needs to put Romo in for a few minutes to give Bledsoe a breather and an opportunity to collect his wits if he gets hit hard. He may also want to introduce Romo to the speed of the game in a real situation while he is at it. I do not know when it will happen but I am convinced Parcells intends to play Romo some this year. Starting may well be further down the line.

I've always rooted for him, but I can't say I'm sold.
I can understand Why??? Let me explain.........
Hostile said:
First of all he turned down a 3 year deal and wants a 1 year deal. To me, that means he's prepared to leave via Free Agency if he doesn't get what he wants.
Yep you prefer QBs that want 7 to 8 year deals. Of course they have to be gurranteed
Hostile said:
Second, I'd still like to see a big time arm and I haven't yet.
Big arm........:lmao2: Does being able to hit the target get the guy any credit, big arms with no accuracy gets guys cut around these parts:p:
Hostile said:
Third, all I've ever seen of him is in pre-season. I'd like to see him get some real playing time. The pre-season stuff is encouraging, but just isn't enough for me to relax. I want him to be given a chance.
But the last guy you were sold on didn't do squat in the regular season.

Lastly, I'm still a franchise QB guy who thinks wanting a "bus driver" is ridiculous. I always want the best kind of talent. Especially at QB.
Funniest thing about this statement.............One has to be able to drive the bus before they become a Franchise QB.

We all Know Troy and Roger came packaged with the label "Franchise"

In a regular season game, defenses have a nasty habit of taking away the stuff you do well, and give you the stuff the you don't.
i.e, maybe they'd give Romo the sidelines, or the deep middle. When I see all this, while under duress, I will annoint him a capable back-up.lol

But right now, we have a guy who has been in the same system for a few years and is looking good in pre-season....and he damn well better!

While I don't disagree with you that all of this means nothing until he plays in a real game, in fairness our coaches will also scheme to what Romo does well and away from what he has trouble with. There was none of that in the pre-season, they just called plays.

As for the arm, I don't know, it looks strong enough to me. Certainly has some zip and good accuracy even on the run. May not be Aikman or Bledsoe out there, but there are weaker in the league like Brees or Pennington.

Not to be argumentative at all, but don't you think there was something "on the line" all preseason with Romo. I mean he was really playing for a contract extension worth a WHOLE lot of money.

If that is not pressure I really don't know what is.

He made 3 game tying or game winning drives - 3 of them in one game- and I know it is preseason but that is pretty impressive.
What's wrong with argumentative if you're not being disrespectful? I don't think anything is wrong with it.

The pressure you described is about playing for self.

The pressure I described is about playing for team. I want to see him do that for real and I've been saying it for over a year now, and for over 2 years for either him or Henson whichever was the backup.

I have no issue with the coaching staff, Valley Ranch, or some fans believing he's all that and a bag of chips. I need to see more. That's me. I'm not impressed by dinks and dunks.

I've already praised his reads and his accuracy. If that isn't enough to satisfy some who want me to call him the nxt Tom Brady, oh well, they can get used to disappointment or they can argue their opinion. I've never shied away from mine.

I would hope that people who do not want Romo to play because they have never seen him in a real game are not the same ones who want Quinn or some other big school hyped hotshot to be their next quarterback -- someone else who has never played in a real NFL game. If they are, I'm afraid they might be snobs who cannot abide the riffraff in their neighborhood even if the riffraff is a clear success -- especially if it is a success..

How did I know you would chime in with your 2 cents and miss the point?

It's called par for the course.

I could give a flying fig about how long the deal is, as long as it's more than the 1 year deal he is seeking. You see, common sense would tell the thinking fan that if he only wants a 1 year deal that he's ready to leave at the end of this year if he feels he can get more money somewhere else.

I'd be fine with the 3 year deal. I'm just concerned if we do a 1 year deal he'll leave and benefit someone else.

Team over player. Get it?

Wow, I know you have trouble interpretting stuff, but trouble reading? Let's examine what I said good about him.

Hostile said:
He makes good reads and he completes a high % of passes because he's accurate. His mechanics are pretty good.
Pray tell, how is that not giving the guy credit?

According to you he didn't. I don't see it that way.

I love German Chocolate cake. Of course I want to eat it. What does that have to do with squat here? I want Romo to show something in a regular season game and sign more than a 1 year deal?

Oh lord, I've asked too much.

I have no idea what point you were trying to make. If anything this reinforces my point.

I personally have not seen any poster who doesn't want to see him play. I guess you need to point that out to me. Every poster I've seen either thinks he should start, or at least get some valuable playing time. I have yet to see any poster say they don't want him on the field under any circumstance.

This is a perfect example of what I've said about people being over sensitive. Read something, take it the wrong way and push it to the brink of hyperbole and call it making a point.

Exlpain why or why not.

Why? Because he's no other choice for now...

Why not? Because you are what you are...

Deal with it...and move on.

And, hope for the best...

Sounds just like the ol' lady. I'll get home, say I closed a few deals today, made a bunch of cash, went to lunch with the Pres., booked us a cruise, saw freds new secretary..shes kinda cute but ditzy, mention I got this big bonus, and found time to order up a 1 ct. diamond ring for our anniversary.

And she'll be all like.. oh so you think that lil wench was cute huh???

Yes, but still not as good as seeing him face real competition where somethign is actually on the line.

I'd like to see a better arm.

The whole back up debate has been biased, I admit that.

I just think it gets skewed a bit by harsh feelings about the outcomes. It really isn't that serious for people to get as bent out of shape about it. It's a game that we all enjoy. But I'm not nearly as serious as I once was about right vs. wrong and whose assesment was correct or what not.

I do want T.O. to behave and help our offense become a supreme unit and I want that offense to gel.

And if our defense can stay healhty, there is not doubt in my mind that we will be in the top 3 overall. Again, I say if we can stay healhty, but show me another team with more talent and better coaching. Zimmer critics, spare the nonsense. This defense has some of the best talent and coaching combined in the NFL.

I think special teams will be good, too.

This is the year that will test Parcells' legacy in Dallas. This is set up, with all the pieces in place, to make a run for the Super Bowl. We just have to stay focused, T.O. has to behave. She has to continue be the player that she's been showing us the past few years.

Witten must stay healthy. This 2 TE set is going to be fun to watch.

We should embrace Drew Bledsoe. He is our QB. Sometimes, people act like he's not even a Cowboy.

This year will be fun. So hard feelings from the past aside, this year should be fun.

Cheers to all Cowboy fans alike.

A little too biased and personal if you ask me, which I know no one did.

I personally don't have any harsh feelings. I've been saying for over a year now that Bledsoe's the guy. Would I like to do even better than him? You betcha and I won't apologize for it. Not a doubt in my mind he's been the best QB on our roster since he got here.

I had hopes for one kid, it didn't work out. I moved on. I'm not pointing fingers and I'm not hiding.

I'd call all of that pretty much right on the money as the recipe for success in 2006 if we are to have some.
