Who's the best run stuffer of this class of DT's

I know some love Collins but i think Cam Jackson is basically the same player and you can get him way later.

Collins has more upside, but also more bust potential. High ceiling low floor type. He could turn out to be the best DT in the draft.
There is 3 down potential in Collins that there really isnt in Jackson. Thats why Collins is a top 60 guy adn Jackson is a day 3 guy. I had us taking Jackson in the 5th in my post combine mock. Another thing with Jackson is that he has had issues with conditioning.

My take on Jackson is that he is a nice get late in the draft as a limited usuage (15 snaps a game) run down lineman.

The scouts disagree w/ you completely.

Since he never quite played up to his massive potential at UT, what makes you say he has no more upside? You thinking he'll be unable to make the adjustments?
It's called a man learning his full skill level. Did Randy White start out as an All Pro defensive tackle? How about Bob Lilly ... was he an All Pro defensive tackle his first two years also?

DT the same as RB this year. Much as we’d all love to see a Jeanty or a Grant, both classes are so deep - and our needs positions so plentiful - that we should be picking both day two or later. Meanwhile, trade down a few times and pick up as many other positions as possible in the top 3 rounds.

Scouts are right sometimes and wrong sometimes. Collins is definitely the more advanced presently, but some guys develop later. Some have better coaching and strength coaches. Some have defenses that are better designed for them. All I am saying is that I wouldn't be surprised if in 3 years Cam Jackson was just as good if not better than Collins -- if he gets the right coaching and he has the heart to make the changes needed. Collins has fewer changes to become a NFL dl, but both have a ways to go, imo.

I am not convinced we need to look for the guy who is the best run stuffer. I think they need inside pass rush as much as they need a run stuffer.

I would have no problem with Darius Alexander, or Omarr Norman-Lott - not in round 1 though.

I still think the Cowboys inability to stop the run is mainly a problem of outside containment. But I see the value in an immovable DT in the middle too.

Yes it does.
They trade down. And get extra picks.
And if Williams is the BPA, they draft him. Which also fills a need.

What is so hard to understand about that?
What is so hard to understand that if you go BPA, you're prolly not filling a need? Don't be so obsessed w/ "BPA" that you have to tout it in every draft strategy convo.

You don't do condescending very well.

No, he's not. There is a ton of work to do to get him to be a stud in the NFL. Who is telling you that he's advanced? If he was, he'd be a 1st rounder, and possibly top 10.

I'm really confused. Collins is the most advanced, but he has a ways to go? I'm not getting your line of thought here.

Absolutely. Not learning, but learning to utilize, which is what I'm pretty sure you meant.

Lilly had 9 sacks his 2nd year and was a pro bowler. Which meant something back then!!!!!

White started out as a LB. Hard to say what he would've been had he been played at DT from the start. Some can play right away and some can't. Some take years, others not so long.

In this convo, we were discussing Collins. Might have the most upside of any DT in the class, but hasn't developed as expected. A big part of it is most likely not having more playing time in 23 due to the presence of Murphy and Sweat, both studs.

We’ve already got a good pass rushing 3T…would love to add another young one but I’d consider 1T the big priority considering run defense has been such a big weakness over the years.

•kenneth grant,michigan
•both the ohio st kids...tyliek williams and ty hamilton.
•rylie mills, notre dame was really good v the run and generating pressure.
Grant and Tyliek are my 1a and 1B I would like to get.

We are covered at 3T with Osa and Thomas, although I would draft one for depth. I wouldn’t mind Mills later if he drops because of knee injury. Draft him and let him rehab/get healthy

And what are you doing now? It is what you do to everyone of my posts, as well as others.
