Say what you want about the situation, but Lance is at least worth taking a chance on as he is young. Grier is already middle aged by QB standards. A QB that already has more beard than head hair before landing a starting gig is most likely a waste of time. You might find a unicorn, but don't plan on it.

With no practice? I really can't believe what I read on this site.
Well, not hard to learn some basic plays that all team's run. He has been practicing and playing all preseason. Not like he is coming off the street.

He isn't playing, so not worth talking about.

Of course he isn't playing.

2) how the heck do you expect Lance to travel to the game, and play without knowing one play? He would have no idea what any of the other players were doing. Did you even think this through?
Agree TJK

About 1/4 of this forum frequently post without using one brain cel in their head. It's dazzling, really.

Do you speak to the players on a daily basis?
The players speak enough. You really think the locker room is so disciplined that there would not be a leak if someone thought that the backup was actually in the same league as the starter. We have seen situations like this before and it always leaks.

Meanwhile when the players voted on their top 100. They had Dak on it. They, shockingly, did not have Trey Lance or Cooper Rush or Will Grier or the guy Trey Lance lost his backup job to Sam Darnold. Almost as though the players do not think those guys are as good. So the executives, scouts, and coaches who make their lists do not think any of those guys are as good as Dak who they have in the top 10. The players do not think those guys are as good. But somehow they could totally keep up in a QB battle.

Rush has produced in real NFL competition. He will never be in Prescott’s class. Lance has done nothing of consequence in the NFL and will never be in Rush’s class as an NFL quarterback.

Let’s try again, do you speak to the players and coaches on a weekly basis?

How fun would it be if Grier has an insanely great game tonight, and we get offered a draft pick (albeit a 6th or 7th) from some team still trying to settle on a #2?... hehe... I'll answer that... a lot.

Grier has incentive to play well. He's basically trying out for other teams now.

Why would they? They know the Cowboys are going to cut him.

If that happens, unlikely as it is, then Dallas might consider a QB room of Dak, Grier, and Lance. I always said if they could put Cooper Rush's brain into Will Grier's body they'd have the ideal backup.

There's an answer to that. But I'm going to let you come up with it all on your own. In light of the news of the last 12-ish hours, it shouldn't be difficult.

Nah. I don't see that. They like Rush too much (and should), and feel that they're legit contenders, so they're not going to let go of him at this stage. Could change come trade deadline, but of course, they'd have to have become persuaded that Lance (or Grier) is that good.

Dang. We're playing the Raiders tonight?

I thought we were playing the Raidas.

Coulda swore that's what I wrote in the subject header for the thread.

(Just kiddin, mods... don't take me too seriously... but I think Raidas Nation has a soft spot in their heart for the Berman pronunciation.)
