Whose Offense?

I said nothing about being a control freak, as HC if he does not like what he is seeing he has the ability to tell his coordinators to change things up be it offense or defense. Evidently you think HC just stands there, that is total BS from some simple minded people. He is where the buck stops. Jimmy had input even though he did not call the plays, if he wanted to slow the pace of the game by running smith it was done. From what I have seen and read they have a good relationship and I have no doubt Moore has a lot of freedom but HC is still the last word on what they want to do heading into a game and through out the game.
Who said anything about Mike not liking what he sees from this offense. Mike loves Kellen More and recognizes his talent. That explains why he was the lone survivor from Jason Garrett's offensive coaching staff. No one said anything about the HC just standing there. Again you bring the strawman argument. What you are saying about the HC having the ability to change plays, everyone knows. That doesn't make it anyone else's offense but Kellen's. I think we agree about Mike and Kellen having a good working relationship. Mike is the HC so of course, the buck stops with him, no doubt about it. But he has given Kellen great latitude in the play designs and play-calling, it's Kellen's offense.

Recently the offense has been the Kellen Moore offense, with all his bells and whistles. Do you think Mike Will have more influence on the offense, I know it's hurting him on the inside!

What kind of things do you think Mike can add to Moore's offense?? Give me your thoughts!
More unpredictability..that is mostly what he has done. Less running Zeke on 1st down and stop running the playclock down to 1 or 2 second before the snap. This more often than not gets us offside than the defense and to turn 3rd and 2 or 3 into 3rd and long..killing drives.

BREAKING Down MIKE MCCARTHY’S OFFENSE /HOW HE CALLS PLAY

I don't think he does anything different, he's happy with Moore's offense. It isn't the offense that will cost McC his job. He hired Nolan, strike 1. McC is going to be concerned about the team, not the offense.

The question is what effect will injuries have on Moore's offense because it got wrecked last season. If we think having the two starting tackles out doesn't affect the play calling, ask Andy Reid about that.

Every play caller is subject to the players he has on the field. One player missing, and not just the QB, can alter the plan. Look at the difference adding Cooper made in the play calling.

BREAKING Down MIKE MCCARTHY’S OFFENSE /HOW HE CALLS PLAY

I have grave concerns that either McCarthy himself is very hesitant to input any suggestions or revisions to add to Kellen Moore led offense - in an effort not to bump heads with Jerry management
and stay in their good graces.

- or if Jones themselves approach 'Carthy Day one with insistence that he totally leave the entire offense (both pass and run) up to Kellen Moore.
In the Jones' eyes, they may see how the former No.1 team offense in total yards (per 2019) shouldn't be interfered or tampered with.

- I frankly quite admire the scheme, route tree and pass designs of the WRs- TEs of Kellen-gun, .
.. but when it comes to how he schemes for the RBs in both the run game, and scheming them in the pass game, i think he's been so bland, unimaginative and predictable.

- With Pollard's speed and able to flex wide or slot, and manuver in space, he should be one of the more dangerous pass catching/nickel RBs in the NFL, i fear his
next team may better utilize his skill set than what we've done with him here.

- All i have come to expect from Zeke run game is having him run delay draw plays and quick handoffs right up the middle (just like ex RB coach Gary Brown suggested)
in pass game its been just short dump offs in the flat. ....he has no patience- development when it comes to quick screen passes Zeke used to destroy teams on (sigh)

I don't disagree that Moore has a lot of trust from McCarthy but even some minor things from last season shows certain aspect from McCarthy something as simple of being more up tempo in the offense. For years many played on offense did not get the snap off until 1 second on the play clock, McCarthy want more up tempo and last season Cowboys were getting those snaps over with ample time on the play clock. I think by and large Moore is given free reign and as HC it is McCarthy job to let Moore know what he wants out of the offense

We agree on this. But I still say it's Mike's team but it's Kellen's offense... for the most part.

You can phrase it as you choose but at the end of the game it is the HC who has to explain. For me I think it always critical that the HC and his coordinators are always on the same page of what they are trying to do within a game.

Again, nothing I disagree with there. McCarthy has the ultimate accountability for the product on the field.

I agree with all of what your first 2 paragraphs say. I never liked this HC hire to begin with and believe Moore is Jerry's next coach in training. My opinion is that McCheese will find his seat get pretty hot if/when things go south this year.

Aren't we supposed to be installing a WCO with McCarthy which got delayed for a fistful of reasons. I expect to see more moves to that offense which puts a premium on getting the ball out of the QBs hands and into the playmakers. This is important to keeping pressure off Dak who has a tendency to hold the ball too long and takes sacks for it. I see some fundamental changes in offense to this year. Now nobody is going to bring it up for discussion. But as good as Dak started last year..too many people will think Dak should just start of where he left of..not going to happen

what other head coaching options were there that we could have had otherwise ?
At the time, i agreed and was elated with the hiring McCarthy, ..great offensive minded reputation, battle tested, experienced winning HC, with a Super Bowl resume.

And Cowboys didn't want to risk the big learning curve of a big name college HC adjusting to the NFL level of competition,.. or a young up for grabs assistant.
They wanted to be in a situation where they could hit the ground running, and be in more of a win-now mode.

My opinion is all...
Always thought his won/loss record tied directly to the coat tails of his previous team's QB.
His past defensive playoff defenses are historically inept by the numbers with the Lombardi outlier year being the exception not the norm.
His in game blunders of last year did nothing to improve my perception of his game day coach failings.

And last...College or not, learning curve or not, I would have went Meyer first, then college again with Rhule as second choice or then Rivera as my third option. I would have tried to get Rhule's OC Brady as well.

Just another opinion.

Tell Elliot, to stay in the game . Even if it’s just a decoy stop taking yourself out.

Works on defense too. Jaylon gives up that 3rd down play and he's got another set of downs to pad his tackle stat.
I don’t think he’s had to help the support. I don’t think he takes third downs off. I think he’s just a little spent after the first two trying to do too much

I don’t think we will be starting every Drive in are 20 yard line. That’s going to be huge. Imagine only having to go 40 yards for a touchdown. Instead of 80.
