Look at the oline men the Cowboys have brought in for visits and who they shown interest in... This should tell you what kind of players they want and for what kind of system they want to run.

then why are you having trouble understanding i and why are you so hot for Fluker

sure any player can play in the scheme but it takes the rught players to execute the scheme

I've already conceded that I wouldn't want Fluker in a zone scheme.

I just don't buy that Garrett is going to switch schemes or make any other kind of adjustment to the offense.

If we drafted Fluker I think it would be proof of that.

Garrett hired an OLine coach and an assistant OLine coach that are both known for teaching/implementing the Zone Blocking Scheme.

Do you really think that they were hired to not implement it?

Also, don't expect all ZBS players to be small. Leary and Bernadeau both fit within the measureables of a ZBS OG.

Callahan did implement zone blocking principles last season, but he also retained the power blocking principles. Callahan uses a hybrid system. Like a good coach he will cater the scheme to fit the personnel and the play called.

Cowboys may see more zone blocking (or not) in 2013 but Callahan will not eliminate power blocking altogether. He did not do so when he was with the Jets either.

Dallas shown interest in Fluker which tells me that you are on the right track. If Fluker is the pick at 18, there are going to be some posters proven wrong. Garrett played on the 90's Cowboys and they used a man scheme with some zone concepts. It makes sense that Garrett is going to stick to what he knows. Some are still saying that Bernadeau, Livings and Leary are fast footed and are zone blockers. If they are zone blockers, Fluker will fit right in.

Great point....this is what catch has been saying the whole thread, as well.

People are writing Fluker off because of the offense they think we will run as opposed to what we have been runnimg this whole time

I don't hate him.... I just don't think he will ever amount to anything more than an average RT.

And you can get someone like that in rounds 2 or 3.

I'd much prefer a DL prospect like Richardson, if he is available.

I'm not keen on Fluker at 18, BUT he could be a relatively "safe" pick in that I'd bet he could also play OG at a high level.

I know what the Alabama coaches said at his Pro Day . . . . but I'm sure the Cowboys have done their due diligence on whether Fluker would excel at OG.

3 things to consider.

They did interview him at the Combine.

They did bring him to Valley Ranch as one of the prospects.

They did go to the Alabama Pro day including Head Scout Tom C.

Does that mean that is who they want at 18...maybe, maybe not but they have shown interest in him.

I will say this though. If he is there at 18 and we pass on him or trade down...The giants or bears would take him in a heartbeat IMO.

I agree he has all the traits of a potential pick, the visits really focus that point.

Average at what? Pass blocking? Maybe.

Run blocking though he is on another level and as long as he shows the same motor he did at Alabama he'll be well above average as a run blocker.

He's the best run blocker in this draft.
