Why are there so many 1 year deals?

I had really doubted the theory that Jerry and sons are cash poor (in the sense of it being tied up in other ventures) but the more time goes on the more I believe it
They are idea and strategy poor. The cowboys rake in 1.4B in cash every year. The second place team in the cash revenue category is about half that amount. It is absolutely not a cash issue.

It does suck really it is hard to find good QBs that can pick up the NFL game quickly enough before their rookie deals are up. Personally I think teams should avoid those 3rd contract negotiations. If QB has not elevated your team enough through their 2nd contract in all likelihood they have reached their ceiling. There is always exceptions.
POST OF THE MORNING!!!!!! So true, look at Dak, he's been in the league how many years, has he shown you enough to say we're going to win a ring with him?? Hell no he's shown you nothing, but it was the fear of starting all over again

It’s definitely not
Nobody rebuilds with a QB at that comp level

Well if you say so i am convinced. Not that all these signs would disturb you in your opinion. i guess?!

I like people who ignore reality around them and so are able to stick to their view. Thats what i call a strong character!

I could be wrong but the fear of starting over is not like it was 20 years ago or 10 years ago, the QBs and the Off. Coordinators seem to at least allow these guys to transition for the most part. There seems to be more successful QBs in the NFL early on than in previous eras. I think most of being that offenses are "dumbed" down and more like college ball.

They can rake in 200B a year but they are bad at the limited spending they need to stick to for team building.

IMO, the team has publicly said that this is going to be another tough year and they are acting like it. They have let some OK players go and replaced them with trash.

This is going to be yet another reset year as the team deals with way too much dead money and big contracts. I kind of think that Dallas might be in trouble for the length of Dak's contract plus the void money year, which might be why they just signed the cheapest head coach they could find.

Basically, Cowboy fans are probably in for a rough ride up until 2030.
I think some of it has to do with the formula for comp picks. Regardless if we signed these guys to a one year deal, if they leave and sign somewhere else next year they CAN factor into the comp pick formula.

Is this a Cowboys thing to just sign players to one year deals now? We did pick up a player or two that got 2 years, but the majority has a one year deal if I'm not mistaken. How exactly do you build a team and build continuity if you're only playing one season together. For some they may not even make it to the season without being cut.

What's the reasoning behind this, how can we build this culture up with one year deals? Please give your thoughts
