Why are you a Cowboys fan?

My reason is, everyone loves a winner. That's why I'm a Cowboy, Yankee and Laker fan. ;)

With the playoffs starting and all of the optimism surrounding the team. It made me reflect on just how long I've been a fan and curious as to why other people love and follow this team. It was kind of natural for me being born and raised in Dallas. I remember going to Texas Stadium on a elementary school trip and meeting Tom Landry and Roger Staubach. We met other players, but even as a child I could sense that there was something genuine and great about those two men. I've lived and cried with them every since.

Why do you follow the Cowboys?

b/c Danny White, Too Tall Jones, Tony Dorsett and several nice pom poms were on TV when I was a kid.

My cousin who I really looked up to is a cowboys fan. He went through the Landry era in 70's and hyped them up for me. I started watching during the late Landry era and really got into it in the early Jimmy era when they sucked. But damn! that star on their helmet really did it for me, it's hard not to root for such a cool looking team. :starspin

First game I remember is the Dallas-Broncos SB.

In the summer of 92 I wanted to have an NFL team that I would be a fan of no matter what. At first I could not think which team that I wanted to be a fan of. I ended up picking the Dallas Cowboys. I am kinda related to Roger Staubach. He is like my Grandfather's cousin's son or something like that.

In the beginning, there were the Dallas Cowboys and it was good.

My Dad(RoB69) has been a long time fan since the 70's. When I was born in 92' he's told me since then were Cowboys Fans, and grew to love them as much as he did :D

When I was about 5 or 6(Around 1988) my Dad would let me watch football games with him, and I liked the star on the helmet, so he told me stories about Roger Staubach and Tom Landry. As I got older he'd tell me about Drew Pearson, and different guys that wore the same numbers as the guys I was growing up with. I don't even have any football memories that aren't of the Cowboys.

I bet your dad is a good man.;)

Being German there's no such thing as born into a NFL team.

So let's be honest it was kinda random picking at the age of 11 or 12. Time of the triplets, the superbowls. My little brother ended up picking the 49ers, that poor guy. we had this sports magazine for teenagers and they covered the NFL. So you could follow the teams a bit.

I lost interest then until like 4 or 5 years ago. The NFL was shown on pay tv channel a friend of mine was able to hack :D So we watched some football and since the Cowboys have that much national televised games, it was fun to have "your" team on tv quite often. On top of that, the internet became faster and faster and that helps a lot if you want to follow the Cowboys a few thousand miles away. In the last years, the Cowboys became my second favorite team after my big soccer love ;)
Hopefully I can make to the Death Star next season.

Because I grew up in “Commanders’ country” and all my friends were Commanders fans. Naturally, I started root against them, as Ive always been sort of a rebel.
