Why are you a Cowboys fan?

Growing up in Oregon, Dallas was the team most televised on the NFC channel which I think was CBS. Anyway, loved them from the beginning and ever since.

I think it was 1974. I was only 5 years old and remember watching the Cowboys playing on our Black and White television. I can't say that I haven't missed a game or two...when they were televised. By and large, I have seen nearly all that I could. Never made it to watch them in Tx, but I've been a die hard for 35 years. I suppose it's the star that attracts kids,but whatever the case, I don't know any fair-weather fans.

My dad has been a fan since the 70s. He used to tell me stories about Staubach and Dorsett.

I actually became a real fan during our 1-15 season. So I guess nobody can call me a bandwagon fan.

1974. I was 6 years old and my best friend came over to visit. We were sitting down on the sofa watching TV and didnt like what was on. I got up, turned the channel and the Cowboys were playing the Cleveland Browns. The first thing that caught my attention was the star on those shiny helmets. My best friend asked me if that was my team and I said "yea, that's my team."

With the playoffs starting and all of the optimism surrounding the team. It made me reflect on just how long I've been a fan and curious as to why other people love and follow this team. It was kind of natural for me being born and raised in Dallas. I remember going to Texas Stadium on a elementary school trip and meeting Tom Landry and Roger Staubach. We met other players, but even as a child I could sense that there was something genuine and great about those two men. I've lived and cried with them every since.

Why do you follow the Cowboys?
