Why aren't the Cowboys looking at the bigger DT's?

Are they really set on Mazi making a huge jump from last years lack luster season. Or are they just going to go with what they have and see how bad things are still and make a pickup during the season. Everyone knows we need help, somehow they don't, please give your thoughts

I've been asking this question for years. Most, if not all successful SB winning teams have huge, mean and talented 1T's/NT's. Why the Cowboys continue to prefer smaller, speed guys is a mystery. Yes, they drafted Mazi and I sure hope this is his year.

They want to see who they have on the roster in TC. And how they do with the Zimmer defense.

There are no players out there to bring in that would be any better than who they have now.
Yes they could have drafted a DT, and they could have drafted a RB. But they went with OL over both of those.
Because they were the BPA on their board, and also the biggest need.

They could make a trade later on if need be, or pick up a DT after the cut downs.

Yes and then they told him to lose weight. :banghead:

Don't know if he's gained some back or not.

Year in and year out this seems to be the case…

We never draft high enough to get a good DT. We don't move up to get one, nor do we pick one up in free agency. How do you expect to get one? Trade for one? That's usually the most costly option.

The status quo is the best path forward.

They did draft a DT, Justin Rogers, but no he wasn't a 1st, 2nd or 3rd rounder. Time will tell how he works out, but he's a 338 lb 1T out of Auburn. They say he's a good run stuffer, and good for helping keep blockers off the LBs. Here's hoping he works out well.

Because Jerry is calling the shots. He is an idiot and thinks that we don't need beef up the middle. This issue won't be fixed any time soon so long Jerry is GM. So we just have to suck it up and live with it.

Been like that for a long time, and Quinn didn't help matters either, he wanted light weight DTs and got 'em.

I don't think Quinn wanted light weight DTs. I think Jerry overruled him.

I'm sick and tired of blaming our coaches. Just blame Jerry. if he knew that this was an issue it would have been fixed.

We just never addressed this problem properly we can't get it right and the right athlete at that position would make everybody's job on the whole defense easier.

For instance if we drafted dontari Poe instead of mostly injured Claiborne that would have been a prime defensive tackle that we could have built around.

Because we're dumb.

Hades, the D was much much better w/ Hankins playing, and Jerry didn't even notice.

Or Rankins, or Brockers.

AA gap scheme….

DTs are in the B gaps.
