Why aren't we talking more about lack of preseason play for starters?

Because that's not going to change, nor should it.

What if they play the starters and the other team doesn't because most coaches are not going to do it. What good does that do them.

They practice and the coaches control that and college coaches do not have a lot of problems. It is always a little sloppy opening weekend for both and that is not going to change.

Does Tom Brady play preseason games 2022?

Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles revealed Thursday that he plans to play all his healthy starters, including Brady, when the Buccaneers travel to Indianapolis on Saturday for their third and final preseason game of 2022.Aug 25, 2022
Hmmm. A recent SB champ with the GOAT QB can play preseason, but the Cowboys are too good for that? Yea, they really showed them Bucs how it's done.

Game play, even preseason game play, is way beyond practice. Anyone claiming otherwise is a football idiot.
Scrimmages are better but they still ain't a game.

what team plays their starters in pre-season.

Yes I know its not the primary reason we had such a poor showing on Sunday, but why aren't we talking more about the impact that not having more playing time together in the preseason had on the offense specifically?

The timing was very much off in many situations (see pollard running into a block on a bubble screen, wr timing on routes, dak accuracy, etc.) and they team really had no rhythm.

I get we want to make sure that everyone is healthy to start the season, but there is something to be said about a few good series in the preseason to get the 1's into a rhythm and to see the game at full speed.

Again, not the "fix" for the situation as there are clearly many other issues, but curious as to why this element isn't getting more attention?
Because it’s just a weak excuse for an offense that Jerry dismantled in the off-season.

I already beat the "nobody plays in preseason" horse to death. People were touting the great Rams do it and whaddaya know.. they looked like warm dawg doo Sunday. I'm not saying we need to run the entire first team out there but I would not be opposed to it. The 90's Cowboys always came out for a series or two in the penultimate preseason game. Nothing fancy.. just get out there.. work through the game process.. take a couple of hits.. and then go sit down.

I'm with you. It's about preparedness.

Psychological preparedness against unfamiliar faces, teams and players with different talent. With a QB like Dak, you definitely need to get him some reps to see what it's like against another team that isn't your own defense.

The other players, too, especially when you're already one of the youngest rosters in the league.. yeah, you do it. Too many moving parts not to.

The probability analysis favors not playing starters in the preseason.
- Being 'rusty' for game 1 is relatively minor compared to starters missing multiple games with injuries.
- The Dak injury involved blocking by Farniok & Tyler. Both played extensively in the preseason.

I would prefer to have veteran starters practice less snaps.
- With less practice snaps, Tyron might have been healthy for the 1st couple of games.

Preseason does not really emulate the regular season.
- Especially if the preseason opponents don't play their starters.

The joint practices vs other teams were likely more helpful than preseason games for the starters.

you don't want him out there in the preseason. He might break a thump or something.
