Why Can't Dallas Run Inside?

Our line is not very good....Zack is still a stud, the rest are not playing good right now....I don't know why....just happens some times..
lol, but I'm still watching the Arizona game tonight and the Indy/Pats game on Saturday...waiting on the Dallas/Giant game Sunday.

It's more on the line then the backs. Wish we could afford to give Zeke more rest, but that is not our reality now. Not sure how long Pollard will be out, but he won't be healthy the rest of the season either.
I actually commend Zeke for trying to play thru his bum knee, and he still makes people miss, when you see him slide and make people miss. But doubt he can hit a big one.
I know it's not what everyone wants to hear, but our run game is gonna be compromised and we will just be a mash unit at RB.
But to me, our Oline has to play better. And our center .....

It’s our running backs.
Nope , Pollard couldn’t get any thing done between the tackles, in earlier games as well but especially look at saints game, his one burst 58 yarder came on the outside, on a well blocked play by WRs as well.

Yesterday we had fresh legs with clement and Hardy , but the line push in the running game is simply not there.

It is definitely our OL. Against a team with smaller athletic DTs, we can run inside. But McGregor, Biadasz, and Martin are NOT a powerful group at all…..period. You put them against some 325-335 DTs, and they are not capable of rooting them out, not even with a double team. Our center and left guard are completing to see who’s the worst OL on the team. Get Williams back in there and we still won’t be rooting the big guys out, but you will immediately see more blocking at the second level and better pulling and screens.

It’s our running backs.
It is our RBs. But there are ways to compensate when our main guys are not right. Yesterday is a good example of that. We had a total of 35 carries for 122 yards. It was a piecemealed effort between Elliott, Clement, Lamb, Prescott, and Hardy but the final results, I'll take.

Zeke may be hurting but I have seen pretty much Zero holes that he can run through. It’s usually the DL that are making all of the tackles. I put more blame on the OL than Zeke at this point.

Just my opinion, but every time we play against a team with a stout 1T/NT like Payne this week, we all of a sudden can't run inside. It is the strangest thing in the world. Our rookie center, and good not great or strong enough LG can't seem to move the big guy out of the running lanes and while he might not make the tackle, he sure jams up all the lanes in there.

Strange how that works. Dallas even did it when Gallimore who has bulked up and is well over his listed weight started playing the 1T.

But you know, they are only 2Down players who have little value <sarcasm>

The two biggest changes to the OL were the benchings of Williams and Steele. They were running fine until then. The fans demanded their Collins in the lineup and the fans wanted Williams benched for his penalties. The fans got what they wanted.

Uh no.. they weren't. The poor running performances began against New England.. Even though they got 122 yards against the Pats the ypc was low. THen they ran for I think 78 yards against the Vikings and the same against Denver.. THen 114 but another low ypc against the Falcons.. that's when the switch was made at guard. It has not gotten better but there was a 4 game stretch when it was bad before the switch.

a) The Pats are a good defensive team. The refs screwed the Cowboys during the game. Cowboys still ran on them. Would have ran for more if the refs were not out to get them.
b) Vikings? Really? What was different about that game that would make running the ball difficult? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count.
c) Denver? The team was down 30 points. The team did not even show up. Hard to run or pass for anything if the whole team took the day off.
d) The Falcons game was over early and the team coasted and just went through the motions on offense. Hey Falcons, we are running the ball to just burn clock. Go ahead and stack the line.

Not the best 4-game stretch to make some broad sweeping generalization about the running game and OL.

Is it the guard/center play? I know Martin and Tyron are in the top 5 of PFF's best graded o-linemen but why can't the run game seem to get going inside with any back? No holes? Is Martin playing as well as he usually does? Even when they had multiple extra o-linemen in and Williams at FB they still couldn't do squat. How much would moving Williams back to LG help?

OMG gotta state the obvious once again here....
They're playing 8 in the box to stop our running game and daring our QB to gut them out.
He cannot......................

The Oline is not blocking well. Bo Jackson wasn’t very good either without a hole.

The OL is below average, especially so if Tyron is out. This needs to be our #1 priority in the off season. Draft heavy on the OL

I'd say....RB.....Elliott never bounces a run to the outside....always looks for the first contact. But I did notice something the other day....rarely do you see the Cowboys O-line...double team a guy...and just blow them off the line. It's more of a 1 on 1 zone blocking scheme....Zeke just doesn't explode to the line anymore....he just kind of dances around looking for a seam....then lowers his head and gets what he can. Which explains why Pollard is getting more yards....@ least he is keeping his eyes open...and he's looking for daylight....and willing to bounce a play to the sideline.

Like Romo said last week during the game with Pittsburgh.. It’s hard to run where all the big guys are. Run away from all the big guys. So simple but so right.

Dallas has a 1 legged RB cramming the ball between the tackles. What do you expect?

Pollard will be the guy that changes this offense if it happens.

Not Mr. Carry the load. Zeke runs like he’s Carrying a load of rocks because he isn’t carrying squat on offense.

I can’t believe the team is allowing him to hurt our offense and not get healthy but they are.

Although I 100 percent agree that we need to run outside, I also believe we need to let Elliott run outside more than we do, even with him injured. He cannot generate power right now, so running between the tackles over and over again is going to be less effective.
