Are people still whining that Carroll and D. Moore got cut? Too funny. Some of you guys could use a bit of real stress in your lives. Might give you some perspective.
bsThe top 3 are the only ones even worth mentioning. The rest are all jags that every other team has at the same price. Maybe woods has starter potential we’ll see. And depends on which Anthony Brown we are talking about. ‘16 Brown looked like a great pick. ‘17 Brown looks like the 6th rounder we spent on him.
And even Cooper didn’t exactly take genius thinking to put a former top 15 pick in between Fred and Smith to get the talent out of him.
take away the almost accidental Dak pick and the franchise is in shambles...because of being cheap. So yeah, let’s not celebrate what’s really hurting the team
You mean drafting well and hitting on free agents is a good thing? My mind is blown. Better keep this idea under wraps before other teams get a hold of it.I'm an unusual spender. Though I love Starbucks coffee...I prefer to buy it at $19 for a big bag at Costco and skip the $3+ cup drive-thru. Though I enjoy dining out...I rarely do so. Habits like this not only help me save money, but also make it easy to afford nice things. The formula is this: save money everyday = enjoy nice things.
Most NFL teams know this same trick of course, though perhaps no team in recent times has been adept at it as the Cowboys.
Consider the Cowboys inexpensive players:
-4th round QB Dak Prescott (inexpensive for now)
-David Irving
-LG Jonathan Cooper
-Cooper Rush
-Noah Brown
-Blake Jarwin
-Lewis Neal
-Anthony Brown
-Kavon Frazier
-Keith Smith
-Rod Smith
-Xavier Woods
How does a team acquire beneficial cheap talent? Draft well in the later rounds, sign good undrafted free agents, and display a savvy to find diamonds in the rough that other teams fail to appreciate.
The players above not only produce as a group tremendously well for the Cowboys, they provide the team an ability to retain all-pro and other top players on the team. It's a key factor for the Cowboys current success and could help push them to a title--this year or in the coming few seasons.
This. I don't want to go to my grave with people saying "Hey he saved a lot of $$ to eat a Big Mac at McDonald's everyday. Too bad since he had enough $$ and resources to eat at Del Frisco's once a week but was too cheap and stupid to upgrade".Oh boy.
Trying to justify being cheap. Still doesn't absolve them of poor albeit cheap signings this past off-season.
Get better, nothing else really matters. If you can get better without having to spend as much as others, great, but being frugal isn't more important than getting better.

We have been eating at McDonalds for 20+ years, and I'm ready to step up for 22oz. aged prime bone in Rib-Eye.
The only real mess up, IMO, was the Carroll signing...which I concede was a head-scratcher. I always viewed that as an insurance signing in case rookies didn't deliver, but price and duration were too much.
Big picture, Cowboy front office has been steam-rolling.
Yes filet (players) on the menu (team) but no room or reservations (NFC Championship) at the restaurant (SB). Tired of watching everyone else earn a chair a the table but us. You can keep your head buried in all the statistics you want but the only statistic that counts is a championship run where we're 0-23 there. Keep waiving your pompoms as you may get some attention. Those who have watched the games, get it. For years we haven't sniffed an NFC Championship and have had a lot of good meat spoil in the process. Sad.We have a top-3 offensive line, a top-3 QB, a top-3 RB, a top-3 LB...and TWO of the best pash rushers going right now. I'd say there's plenty of filet mignon on the table.
We've won 18 out of the past 24 games. It's remarkable how many fans just want to gripe.
They've done a lot of things well lately, no doubt. More good than bad obviously. But they've made some mistakes recently that have hurt them some too.
This is all I was ever trying to convey to you and others in previous threads.
I'm unimpressed with the last 9 names. Sure they could be good but for right they are " contributors" and Practice bodies
Yes like I said they are contributors and practice bodies. What that means is - some contribute here and there and others are practice squad guys.Huh? Practice bodies?!
-Anthony Brown is starting. He was an above average corner last year...and so far is rated league average in '17.
-Cooper looks like a very fine backup QB. Massive find for 300K$.
-Noah Brown is rated the best blocking receiver in the league and is just a pup
-Rod Smith is expected to get carries in Zeke's absence. He's impacting special teams
-Woods looks real good so far...could be starting perhaps this year.
I can tell my kids 20 years down the road that we might never have won a super bowl but we were financially smart
Cause that’s why we pay big money to watch how good our team is at managing the check book

Been a fan a long time. The only thing this organization has won in over 20 years....is Jerry building the richest entertainment empire in the entire sporting WORLD. I don't begrudge him....but I get ZERO satisfaction from watching Jerry take what was once a FOOTBALL organization...was once THE gold standard....and turning it into a money printing machine. He owns it....he can do what he wants. But I am at a place of "show me". When his handpicked head coach can start turning potential...into consecutive playoff appearances....or not being one and done..or at least reach the NFC title game for the first time in almost 25 years....then I will believe.News flash: We are positioned to compete for a Super Bowl. Only Pats have won more game over past two seasons.
Fo is great at th draft and awful in free agency. How much better would we be if they actually made an attempt at signing a decent free agent?
