Free agency is a helpful tool. It helps accelerate the process instead of having to wait for a player to develop in 2-4 years.

You should build the core of your team through drafting and supplement with free agency.

Just like drafting, some free agent hit others miss.

The Eagles added some free agents this off season like Alshon Jeffrey and jtrain. They are playing well for the Eagles.

Yes the giants messed up in free agency but the broncos utilized free agency to help them get that Super Bowl a couple of years ago.

They're going to have to pay Dak a million dollars on his next deal.

post less gibberish.
the pats drafted brady and get that credit regardless of the fact it was the luckiest draft pick of all time and a complete afterthought.
there's no reason to believe other qbs drafted here wouldn't be better than wherever they ended up.
we built a strong ol and a good supporting cast for a qb.

cooper coming here of ocurse was in part because this ol is great.
but again no one says crap when the pats get to sign a guy for 2mil less because they are on the expressway to the super bowl every year.
getting that alaue is why they keep winning.
the fact people call themselves cowboys fans but cry about getting the same time breaks... that is astounding.

let go of the agenda kids, the adults are playing winning football, again. 18-7 in 2 years is real. real good too.

You are bringing up the Pats not me. And no one else brought them up because it’s a ridiculous comparison. Pats win playoff games and have a proven track record. Wish I could say the same for the Cowboys.

And for the record I was actually fairly content with what the front office was doing for the past 2 years. I didn’t have any major gripes at all. But when you go 13-3 and have a great young nucleus to build around it’s inexcusable to sit on your hands and do nothing to improve the team. The Eagles passed us in the standings because their front office is light years ahead of ours.

You damn our boys for lack of recent playoff success, then turn right around and praise the Eagles, whom *never* have finished the deal in the playoffs. NEVER in their franchise history.

And this:
Cowboys in past two seasons: 18-6
Eagles in past two seasons: 14-10

You are running around in a circle, dressed only in your agenda.

My agenda is that the Cowboys front office didn’t do enough to improve the team.

The patriots front office/coach has more than enough of a proven track record to not be questioned at this point. Ours does not. The Pats are also big players in free agency/trades by the way...

The eagles front office post Chip Kelly’s era is much better than ours and is the reason they are ahead of us in the standings THIS YEAR.

Those are the the points I’ve made in this thread and they are all facts. Now continue to throw random counter arguments that had nothing to do what I said out...

Cherry picking what has happened in 8 games to say, "The Eagles front office is light-years" ahead of our FO... fails on all kinds of levels.

Dallas front office is killing it and a more valid statistical sample speaks to that.

I don’t give a damn about PFF rankings. Brown flat out hasn’t played like a top 3 CB this year. He’s a backup. Most backups are cheap.

How do you know how many teams did or didn’t try to sign Cooper? You don’t think Dallas being the best possible destination for any LG had anything to do with it?

And you chose to skip over the 1st part of my last point. WITHOUT DAK. If our GM/Owner had his way we would indeed be in shambles with Paxton Lynch at QB. Or Connor Cook
You think Jerry doesn't have his way?

Not sure if you've noticed but Pats screwed up free agency lol.

Spend a little. Spend a lot. Draft great. Draft poorly. What does it matter? There are ZERO repercussions for the fact that we have not won in over 20 years. I am too tired to laud ANY approach we take...until there is proof we are positioned to compete for a Super Bowl.
Unfortunate post of the millennium.

As far as the big picture is concerned, I believe we have improved appreciably during the last decade in our talent acquisition and the "bang" we get for the buck. It's a work in progress, to be sure. Acquiring talent mostly through the draft is a formula to improve incrementally each year with skilled evaluators in house. There's surely room to improve in terms of our veteran free agent pickups as well. Maximizing cap health is helpful in that respect for certain. The Dallas organization currently appears supremely devoted in making that effort.

Perhaps time will be kinder in eventually helping this team to arrive at a SB championship level. Probably, additional improvement might ostensibly come to our aid in that regard. Here's hoping the Cowboys' organization concocts a way to continue improving their cap health and accordingly, their talent acquisition in the years to come.
