Despite only playing eight snaps against the Bears, recently signed Ryan Davis has shown more pass rush ability than most Cowboys linemen.

f asked which current player leads the Cowboys in career sacks most would probably guess Tyrone Crawford or Demarcus Lawrence. Some non-Cowboys fans might not even be able to name a defensive lineman on the roster. While Crawford and Lawrence are both near the top with a paltry nine and eight career sacks respectively, the actual leader is Ryan Davis, a Cowboy for all of the last two weeks, with 11 sacks over his first three years in the league.

Despite posting 10 sacks in a rotational role over the last two seasons Davis was released by the Jaguars during final cuts. While most might assume that a player released by a team as poor as the Jaguars wouldn’t be worth adding, that certainly wasn’t the case here. The Jaguars actually have a very young, talented group of defensive ends, headlined by 2015 third-overall pick Dante Fowler and 2016 third-round pick Yannick Ngakoue, both of whom already have two sacks this season. They also have a dependable veteran in Jared Odrick at the position.

Dallas needs him to play tomm !!

I think he'll get a huge bump in snaps this week. I see him being the backup RDE to Lawrence by the end of this season. I can see the Crawford brothers manning the LDE spot, with Irving backing up Collins at 3T and McClain/Thornton at 1DT. That leaves Mayowa the odd man out. I'd rather we see if he can be an edge rushing SOLB like we tried with WIlber.

Kyle Wilber - 6'4" - 245 lbs - 27 years old
Benson Mayowa - 6'3" - 240 lbs - 25 years old

I'm not sure with Marinelli who is 2nd and 3rd string.

The way he platoons them in groups of 2..

it's not clear to me.

It's been unclear these first few weeks with all the suspensions and injuries. But usually over the year you start to see a trend in the number of snaps players get. It usually works out to one player getting about 2/3 of the snaps and another getting 1/3, with two players splitting snaps at each of the four positions. I'm referring to how it usually plays out with Marinelli's D-lines in Dallas.

Holy crap, I forgot he was on the team! Thanks for the reminder, and hope he can contribute more this week. Circle the wagons Boys, let's whoop those 49ers!

I still do not see Crawford being a FT DE.

Just don't think he offers enough pass rush.

Why he doesn't. He really didn't do much. I'd rather see more of Lawrence, Gregory or Tapper.

Its pretty simple, all our des are 3rd stringers with exception to Lawrence.
Much worst than last year.

Lawrence has been a bust..

Hardy was a chump.

Gregory is nuts..

Mincie was not for long

and Crawford is grossly over paid.

As long as I have been a fan..which is 45 yrs..

I have never seen such a useless roll call.

Ryan Davis won't save the defense. We are going to need a bigger boat.

Lawrence is not a bust. He'll instantly be the best pass rusher we have when he returns.

What could it hurt only one way to go with sack totals and that is UP

Put him in coach

Lawrence has been a bust?

Really.
In my opinion..yes.

First year..out for most of the season with injury.

Last year..very little contributoon.

This year..suspended for first four games.

Is that Pro Bowl standards?

He was a top 2nd rd. draft pick.

I know we blow those with regularity which makes that seem like normal..

but its not.

We'll see what he does..I expect hom to tweak somethimg immediately becuz he won't be in game shape.

That would be par for our course.

8 sacks from the strong side of Marinelli's scheme is pretty good production. It's not "Pro Bowl? level (and I don't recall anyone saying it is), but it isn't
bust" either.

He had 8 sacks last year.

I have absolutely no idea what team you're watching.

He had an 82.2 rating in '15 per PFF.

Maybe you're just trolling.

If so you're doing a p-poor job of it. LOL!

And he played surprisingly well vs. the run.

Honestly believe Lawernce will help the Defense when he returns. The problem between Hardy and Garrett should have been worked out...he was the best defender the club had. Too bad about Gregory.
