While many are quick to defend Cowher, consider how many other head coaches have coached for as many years as him and not ever won a super bowl. I don't know the answer, but it isn't many.

HOW do you not try and cement the game with a FG? He and Bettis were almost BIG TIME GOATS...

How much time was left? Could they have taken a knee?

HOw does a fG cement the win? Then it's a 6 point lead, isn't it?

First and goal from the 2 yard line?...if you kneel down three times and kick a fg, you use up INdy's Timeouts and kick the ball back to them with close to a minute left, and if they score, you lose.

From the 2 yard line...first down...unless you can actually run out the clock by kneeling, there's not a team in the league that wouldn't run it and try to put the game away.

I wouldnt take Cowher over Parcells right this minute but I think Cowher is a great coach and if he'd have become our coach at any point over the last 10 years it wouldnt have hurt my feeling one bit.

Look at the QB's he's trotted out over his tenure. Is the personnel all on him? O'Donnell, Stewart, Batch, Maddox, Ben as a rookie etc.

At some point you can rag on the coach for the perennial close but no cigar.. but to win championships you gotta have the horses too.

With the QB's he's had and the player turnover in general I think making it to 6 Conference championship games in 14 years is quite good to say the least. Even if they've come up short too often. Unless one thinks they're simply *getting* to those games on talent and then *losing* them on coaching.

If they come up short again this year, so be it. They'll still be able to hang their heads higher than Dungy, Manning and the Colts.

I'd take Cowher as well. Long memory...for a long time, the common thought was that Landry couldn't win the big game. Why? because they'd been beaten in the playoffs. The Cowboys set the record for appearing in the playoffs 17 years in a row...I'm still as proud of that fact as I am any Lombardy Trophy. It's that kind of excellence and tradition that led to the SB victories.

Seriously though, all you guys who think Cowher is all that, why has he never won a superbowl? I DO think he's a good coach...kind of a "good buddy" type to the players, but still good. All I've ever seen him do better is spit all over everybody and scream "let's go, let's go!!":laugh2:

i don't know if he will win a sb or not but it was absolutly the right call. bettis has'nt fumbles since 2003, you up by 6 with a fg and the opponents have 3 time outs. you score it's over, you kick the fg and the game goes on. i would do the exact same thing. it's not like he was running a rookie up in there, the guy rarely ever fumbles.the perfect call, had he kicked and the colts came back and won then there would be people saying he should have went for it. can't please all fans, but i would have called the same thing and put the game away
