Straight from Cam Newton's 4th and 1.....

Before the season started and QB evals were being done Dak v. other players, notably this one.

We're comparing Dak to another QB with similar stats over their last 50 starts. That's over 3 years' worth of stats. Remember, this was before the season started. Here we go:

Dak Other QB
W/L 33-17 36-14 practically a wash
Pass TDs 105 105
INTs 38 39
Pass Rtg 101.3 98.9
Yds/Att 7.6 7.5
Comp % 68.4 66.8

Many of you know where this is going, though some may not. The other quarterback's stats are those of Patrick Mahomes.

A QB's legacy is built in the post-season, and I won't argue with that. I will argue that PM had better offenses every year, while we were supposed to have a better defense than KC.

Point the finger wherever you want, but the stats don't lie. Football is a 22 man game, and I'd argue that Dak was doing his job. Like him, don't like him, I don't care. Just remember that there are very few QBs that match up to him that also happen to be available.

Somehow Mahomes has always had a running game. Going into this season, it was obvious that we had problems at the RB position, and that was a killer.

Food for thought as we head into the off-season and begin building our team for next year.

Until next year......

Bottom line, Dak was regressing in 22 and he had an awful showing against GB again in the playoffs. We could have let him play out the final year of his contract this season before making a decision but didn't and instead making him the highest paid player in history and low and behold his regression continued. Now we have a mediocre at best QB with a crippling cap charge that has less talent around him to make him look even decent. We are screwed.

Yeah but then he doesn't magically get hurt this season gets the bag and then the next season he'd be hurt, it's all about securing the bag

I didn't really have a problem with retaining Dak, but I would have preferred leaving enough money to pay some other players.

Just think how good he'd be if he could: scramble out of pressure, extend plays, able to read/find those open receivers and was able to orchestrate a late comeback once in a while. ;) .
But it's good to know its down to the KC running game (WHICH HAPPENS TO HAVE LESS YARDS THAN WE DO OVER THE PASS TWO SEASONS).

Patrick would never make it as a cowboy, he would’ve been booted off the stage just like Prescott

The problem is people hate Prescott. And it has nothing to do with him being a Dallas cowboy quarterback. They just don’t like him. He could win a Super Bowl and they would hate him.
nah, i genuinely like Dak the person and love hes made it big despite all the stuff that has happened to his family.

However, the dude just does not have "it" in big games to step up and live up to what hes paid. And in terms of what hes paid, it hurts getting talent to help him. Almost every playoff game or against a good team he just folds over, this is why 90% of the people who dont like him as QB, dont like him. I doubt your strawman argument for most people here.

But then again Dak could be paid peanuts and Jerruh and Cap boy wouldnt spend a dime on any meaningful free agents, prob just give Overshown a 45mil/yr contract

There’s always somebody else on the team that lets us down. Byron Jones, Ezekiel Elliott, Prescott, they’ve all made mistakes in the playoffs, including coaching. Just can’t blame him, Prescott. It takes a team to fail and win. Like I said, Patrick Mahomes would fail in the system. And I do truly believe that. He’s blessed to have Andy Reid.

Stats can, and often do lie. They also never tell the whole story.

Rate them both on the 'difference maker' scale. 1-10

Mahomes - 10
Prescott - 2

Mahomes makes more wow plays in a game then Prescott has made in his career.

If they were chainsaws Mahomes would be a pro model Husqvarna, ported and polished and tuned to scream. Prescott would be an offshore knockoff that looks identical, runs pretty good. Impressive up until you ask it to really work, then breaks far to early.

Only difference is the Cowboys paid Husky money for the pretty, shiny knockoff.
