Why did the D play so much Zone?

Only thing I can think of is Quinn being worried about the speed of the packers but even still I don’t understand it. If you wanna sprinkle some zone in that’s fine but don’t go so far away from what made you successful sell and we did.

Why did they play so much Zone? Cowboys are a man team. Love feasted on Zone this year and was mortal vs Man.

I never heard an explanation. Makes no sense.
In the playoffs you try to do things differently to throw off the other team and their preparations. If you noticed Green Bay played more zone as well. Unfortunately we were confused by their changes but they apparently were ready for ours, and feasted on it.

That’s fine…you add wrinkles to cause confusion but when your guys look more confused than the other team- you need to know when to go back to what has worked for you.

The speed of their receivers is my only guess. It failed miserably. Playing ten yards off, and they were still 30 yards away sometimes.

As much as Orlovsky is annoying at times to watch, if anything he knows football. He has mentioned this week after week about our D and nothing has changed from DQ. I can only shake my head

The coaching plan was to limiting the deep passing strength and the run both...not attacking either to shut either down . Run defense was always the most defeating of momentum for Dallas. Then their rhythm was gone. Coaching on talents and use by a strong team against this team?

It was as if Quinn was sabotaging us on his way out. But why would he do that? Clearly he wanted to coach the D to victory, so what he did makes even less sense than sabotage. I'm grasping at straws. I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!

No excuses. If you were on these boards before this game, last week, me and several guys said " don't run zone". Love is considerably worse vs man, and this dude went there with a zone gameplan, unbelievable.

as I said in another thread, maybe Quinn was thinking:

"Love is a first year starter, maybe zone will totally confuse him as much as it does our guy"

In man, GBay goes 4 wide, in the box hard to get enough guys to stop run.

They were gashing our run D hard..
That still doesn't mean you don't try it. Try something else. Make the opposing offense guess not have a field day.

Then explain this to me. How come our zones left WRs wide open all the time but their zone defense allowed 2-3 guys to be around the receiver almost every time?
