Why did the D play so much Zone?

Why did they play so much Zone? Cowboys are a man team. Love feasted vs zone coverage this year and was mortal vs man.

I never heard an explanation. Makes no sense.

My guess ( throwing **** at the wall) he was probably worried about Gilmore (shoulder) effectively being able to jam receivers with speed!

I think we played zone because the two corners we have would be exposed

Gilmore is too slow and Bland is a liability - yeah he has some picks but he’s also been torched this year

Lewis has lost a step too

I suspect that it was twofold:

• To protect Gilmore and his shoulder. He probably shouldn't have been playing, and they didn't have any faith in Nahshon Wright or Noah Igbinoghene to play outside in this game.
• To put them in better position to stop the run.

To say that it was a horrible strategy is a massive understatement.
