Why did the line move to 9.5?

Geno is not 100% and may not play and the Cowboys have been dominant at home, so the line continues to move. Makes sense.
And even more importantly, people are betting heavy on the Cowboys and Vegas needs to even out the betting so they can make money on the take.

Could someone explain this wager stuff sheesh, coog is so lost!!
OK. Vegas and the bookies want the same number of people betting on either team. So, then they make a fortune on the cream. So, they move the line to get people to bet the team that is not being bet on.

That is exactly how it works. You can explain this to people over and over and over, and they still don't understand it. The line is based on people betting, not on who they think is going to win and by how much.
Well...not exactly but to your point Vegas lines have to start somewhere. The starting point is based on what they think will generate betting from both sides and also some insider "trading".

dang you're so smart!!!! I need to look up this point spread stuff, like what the hell does it mean by a 9 point spread? So they want us to win 23-14?? Or some score of more than 9 points???

That means if you want close to even money, you have to give up 9 points. So, if you take the Cowboys and give 9 pts, and the Cowboys win by 8, you lose the bet.

Vegas is all about making money. The score or outcome matters not; just how much they can make.

So those thinking that somehow vegas knows more about football is just so stupid

Maybe it's because Seattle sucks and Micah will abuse the old man Peters all night long. Don't think too hard about this.

Easy on the coffee KSK. All I was commenting on was the line comes out first right? Then people start wagering and then the line moves...

Only thing they know is about where to set the line to induce even betting. They've only taken a bath a few times. One was the SF/SD super bowl. No matter how big the pushed the line, no one would bet on SD, as SF was far superior. Line ended up at 18.5, an absolute monster spread for a super bowl.
