And NE took Harris at 87, so, at the bottom of the top 100--where you should be shopping for RBs. Compare the draft value of 2018 #31 and 2019 #87 to 2016 #4. We overspent for the position, on a character risk, and, now that he's sitting out for the time being, we're handicapped trying to replace him adequately. We put all our egg in one small basket.

Perceived value is irrelevant since each side has its own perception and the perceptions differ. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make by parsing the two terms, but It’s the position’s actual market value that’s going to matter at the end of the day. And that market value is basically established.

Absolutely. Bellychickens knows what we don't understand:

1) Having a chain moving Rb is extremely important, one of the most important aspects of a super bowl team. You don't need the best RB in the NFL, but you need a guy who can get those tough inside yards. NE's constant resigning of Blount goes a long way toward showing that. And as soon as he was gone, they made sure and got another in Michel. And now they've drafted another early, and would you like to guess what he's known for: I will tell you!!!! He's a TOUGH INSIDE RUNNER!!! His scouting report specifically points out that he gets the tough yards.

2. There are quite a few guys like this out there, and you cannot overpay for them. Belly knows that the HR threat of a RB is secondary. This is indeed a passing league, but in most games you will need to control TOP/eat clock.

Some of Zeke's worth may be determined by how the team plays with out him. I remember 1993 when Emmitt held out. The team played like crap and very uninspired until Jerry relented and paid him what he wanted. Maybe History doesn't repeat itself and the team will play well without Zeke, but maybe History does repeat itself. Time will tell.

Zeke was drafted to take advantage of a perceived Romo window. In even the best case scenario, Romo would be gone before Zeke needed a new contract. We'd probably expected to have to blow up the team post Romo.

But you don’t “need” an elite, any position, to win a championship. You need an elite team. They can be constructed in various ways.
