Why didn’t we sign Peters right after Tyron injury?

Then why not sign someone else who can’t play now? You CANNOT put Josh Ball in at LT in an actual game.
Sure you can, only reason Peters is being considered is that they caved to the criticism that they needed a name fans had heard of. In reality, Ball can’t be much worse considering Peters gave up 6 sacks and 28 pressures last season witch is bordering on atrocious!

Peters was one of the highest graded LTs in the league last year. Ball was getting dog walked this preseason by guys who will be working at Walmart next week.

This FO commits roster management malpractice on the daily. Tyron gets injured on August 25. Why wasn’t Peters in the next day and signed so he could get enough practice time in to possibly start at LT? Instead FO sat on their hands and won’t be able to “officially” sign him until Monday (or even Tuesday because of holiday). Less than a week before first game. So Peters will be nothing more than a swing tackle I bet. And you force a rookie who hasn’t practiced any LT in training camp to start. SMH
Lol. It takes two to tango and Peters doesn't want to be in TC. He's 40 freaking years old!
He knows the position. Give him a playbook, let him get into shape and roll.

You just don't sign peeps like connecting legos bro.

Great question!
Why did we not sign a swing tackle during the off season?
Tyrone had not played a full season since 2015.
Ball and Wecheko had never played a NFL down.

They were waiting to see if a tackle/guard was released during final cuts that they liked. It had nothing to do with a roster spot, IMO.

This is the only explanation I can reasonably accept. But they even drug their feet after that. And not being able to close the deal before a 3 day holiday weekend is simply inexcusable

Lol, 6 sacks, 28 pressure… that’s not highest rated anything!

They are high on Tyler Smith and wanted to get him the experience. They drafted Smith in the first round to do this. The front office wasn't sitting on their hands. They have been working on this before Tyron got hurt. I suspect that they contacted Jason Peters to back up Tyron Smith and Peters wanted to wait. Now they can sign Peters and see how it goes. Thank goodness that they have the cap space to do this. By being patient they were able to sign Turpin, Barr, and it looks like Peters too. The patience is paying off after most teams have already shot their wad. They know what they are doing.

on the surface, fans want it that way, but to set up visits, go through agents, do medical checks, initial contract parameters, etc. its been about a week....unfortunately we don't live in Madden NFL world. click click done

Only 3 penalties has to be pretty high.
6 sacks last season had him tied for 14th worst, he gave up 8 the previous season. For perspective Tyron gave up 1 in the each season. Thinking he’s going to come in off the street with no off season program or training camp and make any sort of immediate impact is delusional. Reality is they’re most likely going to put him on the practice squad for at least 4 weeks!
