Its the uniforms I am telling you. These damn uniforms haven't won a playoff game in 12 years.....:banghead:

The media loves talking about our 12 year playoff win drought.

But the reality is that it doesn't matter.

If we had won 1 playoff game back in the late 90s or in 2003, would it really matter? Would it make a difference for any of us?? Would it mean the franchise has been more succesful?? NO!!!

I don't think anyones objective is to win 1 playoff game... it is to win the Superbowl. If we win the SB this year or the next, nothing else will matter.

I used to think everyone was overblowing the bias in the media... but these days I can't stand to watch any sports program. I haven't watched ESPN in months because everything they say is stupid. So let them ***** about our lack of playoff wins...

To be honest, the only reason I would like the cowboys to win 1 playoff game is so TV analysts would shut up! I really don't care if they win or lose 1 wild card game... We want them to make a deep playoff run and get to the SB not to win 1 wild card game.

These are my thoughts exactly, and why I started the thread.

Had we betean Carolina in 2003, it would be "the Cowboys have won only one playoff game in 12 years."

My point is with those 3, as well as some other haters, its the standard answer.

Woodson and whoever is debating the mertits of the Cowboys as a SB contender this week, last month or in preseason. And Woodson disagreeing that we are a contender throws out the 12 year drought.

When you win five Super Bowls and embrace the "America's Team" moniker, people will rightly hold you to a different (and higher) standard.

If we get in and beat the Vikings is anyone really going to be impressed?

Have we really done anything? No

Dallas needs to get in and do some damage for once.

at this point - yes

First they need to get in. Then they need to win one. Then they can think about a second game.

If they don't get in, Jerry Jones should be fired.

The players? No. They consider it a burden. The front office/marketing department? Oh yes.

And not just a playoff game.....winning a superbowl is the only thing that will shut these guys in the media up.

If Dallas wins one playoff game this year, the popular no wins in 12 years will turn into, "1 playoff victory in 13 seasons, and that was against another wildcard opponent".

It's not illogical at all. There's a reason why the Bengals and Lions almost always suck regardless of the current coach, GM, and players.

They say it because it's the longest drought in the team's history.

This is a franchise that has won 5 out of 8 Super Bowls.

This is a franchise that at one time went 20 years or so with a winning record.

This is a franchise that is 'supposed' be in the upper tier of NFL teams year in and year out and for the last 12 years that hasn't happened.

They say it repeatedly because it's in line with histotical events such as the fall of great empires.

They say because it open ears as to the downward spiral this team has been in for some time now.

Downward spiral? Really? Wow.:laugh2:

Please. From 2003-2008 has been the opposite of a downward spiral.

The point is playoff games from 10, or even 5 years ago are irrelevant when evaluating what this team is going to do this year. And that's what they're doing. They're using the 12 year streak as support for their point that Dallas will not win a playoff game. And it's not even close to credible evidence to cite things that happened with an entirely different roster and coaching staff 5-12 years ago.

Want to talk about this year, last year, and the year before that? Go ahead. They're actually relevant to the discussion. That's my take.

Until they win a playoff game that will be brought up every single year. It doesn't matter that Only Flo and Greg Ellis were around back then all that matters is that it's been that long and until this team changes that every single Cowboys between then, and the time they win a playoff game, will be tied to that.

Bringing it up for the sake of bringing it up isn't the problem I have. They can bring it up all they like.

Bringing it up as support for their argument that Dallas will not win in the playoffs this year is what I have a problem with.

The fact of the matter is we are getting closer to breaking that streak than farther away. We are more likely to win a playoff game (if and when) simply because we are due.

Yes I'm talking about Rod Woodson, Warren Sapp and Cris Carter.

Can someone please explain to me how not winng our 1998 playoff game against Arizona or even our 2003 playoff game against Carolina impacts this team?

Whenever Jamie Dukes or Deon Sanders has something positive to say about our team with respect to the postseason, these *******s ( Woodson and Sapp) bring up the 12 year playoff drought.

I mean they do it over and over and over again. It's obvious to me that when they are doing this it's more about rubbing the Cowboy Organization, A.K.A. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys' fans face in shot, then it has to do with any sort of objective analysis.

There are plenty of short-comings with this team to make reference to when painting a negative picture.
If you don't like the Cowboys chances, you can make reference to Romo's turnovers, inconsistent defense play, poor special teams and even the recent playoffs failings of 2007 and 2006.
I mean most of these players were on those teams and a reasonable arguement can be made that those losses could be a source of added pressure.

But excentuating the 12 year drought does not. It means nothing and will not impact this team.

Like I said, it's just unprofessional *******s rubbing our face in it! I only wish Sanders or Dukes would just once call them on it.

They want to be "Pop"..... "Pop-u-lar"... all they wanna be is "Pop"..... "Pop-u-lar"...

It does matter...there is a pattern.

Though players and coaches change, there is one constant, one common denominator.

I would say some of the reason has been learning curve of the salary cap and trying to reload with a few HOF's for one last run.

The blame on Jerry is misguided, IMO. What other owner spends and places more importance on fielding a talented team?

This team is built for several years to come and this njudgement will have to see it out to get a true result.

And until it happens, the shoe fits.

Throwing money at something doesn't always equate to a desired result.

True, however I would rather have an interested owner willing to spend than ownership squezzing nickels. Also, there is a sense of entitlement amongst fans that Dallas is owed Championships and when something goes wrong then ownership is directing the ship incorrectly.

Fact of the matter is Superbowls are rare and ownership has placed the team into position to win. It may take a year or two to win the Superbowl and would that make the owner a genius then? Yes, the media would celebrate JJ as GM of the year and hype him up and reality nothing has changed it just took time for things to gel.

When we win a freaking playoff game.

Absolutely bang on. The only way to not give them any fodder in this regard is to win.
