Why do idiots try and take "Americas Team"

The Cowboys do not have a copyright on the term "America's Team".
If any other team wants to claim it,then have at it.
I could care less.
Its not a self imposed nick name anyway. Steve Sabol from NFL Films gave it to them.

It's a nickname, not a "title". If we had more titles than Green Bay I would have no interest in calling Dallas "title town"

Correct and as long as the argument every year is "Cowboys or enter current flavor of the month team here" as to who is the real America's Team, the answer will always be the Cowboys.

No, I don't mean the whole "America's Team" angle...that should remain with the Cowboys. I was only talking about articles about declining attendance at training camp (or declining attendance/sales in connection with the Cowboys in general).

And I guarantee you that "jealousy" has nothing whatsoever to do with the whole "Cowboys no longer America's Team" angle you see popping up every offseason.

As one of the Fighting Idiots from Farmers Branch I take exemption to being compared to the bottom sea scum of those who would take away America's Team title.

NFL fans will not be fooled. Like us or hate us we are America's Team and no one can take it away. It is documented in the famous NFL film and documented daily by the huge numbers of merchandise.
So do not worry. The name is secure for the Dallas Cowboys.

Several good reasons have been stated so far. I would include lack of imagination as a reason. Some fans or media wish to create or improve upon a team nickname, but do not have the innate creativity of doing so. Thus, they take the easy road and try justifying how the phrase fits their team better than Dallas. It's certainly not an unusual practice. It's the main reason why so much stuff gets regurgitated by Hollywood all the time. One day, someone will come up with an original nickname that matches a team's personality and success. Some of those always wanting to steal America's Team for their purpose will stop, consider, and say, "Huh. Why didn't I think of that?"

Hopefully, someone else will overhear the comment, turn to that person, and say, "It's because you are an idiot." lol.
