Why do some think Wade would accept a demotion?

Because he's old and fat and has a country accent, WG... So he must be a bumbling dufus just happy to draw a paycheck from anybody who will give him one.

But the way he's been treated around here, he probably couldn't wait to get out of town ASAP. He may be from Texas, but he hasn't worked here since he was with the Oilers 30 years ago, so I doubt that means much to him.

I doubt it, he'd probably rather be a DC elsewhere for less money than be demoted on the team he used to head coach. He could get a DC job pretty easily right now, and I'm sure a team like the Lions would be willing to give him a HC job if he was available.

He could get a job somewhere else but not for the pay he gets here. I repeat. I doubt it also. Mostly because he is going to be the HC here.

I can understand that, certainly, but I believe that is one of the prices those people willing pay when they decide they want to be coaches for a living.

I agree

I really agree with this. Talk about being treated like crap and he appears to be a genuinely nice guy.

I doubt he'd take a demotion here. But I am almost certain he'll never be a HC in the NFL again. Therefore his options would be to be a DC somewhere or retire. It would be awkward for him to go straight from a HC to DC at the same place. But in Jerry's World we get one of the worst HC's ever in Campo to come back a few years later as a position coach, so anything weird is possible in JerryWorld.

Not sure I understand why some would think he would.

I've never seen a case where the current leader of an organization would willingly step aside and take a demotion. If someone else is brought in, then Wade is gone. I doubt he'll stick around to run the defense. And logically speaking, I'm not sure a new HC would want Wade around anyway.

not only do i not think he would, i don't believe he should be given the option.

this is kinda bad to me simply because when wade stepped in, the D went up. the man knows D flat out. but this year we had a problem with "authority". wade? garrett? jones? we're set to repeat this problem next year because it's wade final "contract" year. if we couldn't stop the division *this* year what will change to stop it next year?

harsh talk? i hate to say this but the michelin man can cuss me out all he wants and all i could do is laugh. not out of disrespect, but it's kinda like watching a nun cuss. i'm sure she can't do it right and it just sounds more funny than threatening.

garrett? well he's not the coach! yet. does he take charge *now* or let wade try and toughen up suddenly? if he does take charge, why is wade here?

the harsh lesson we learned this year (i think anyway) is that you can't have a present and "future" coach on the same team. not as obvious as jones made it anyway.

to demote wade will still keep the factions in place and likely cause further divide, or keep the old one too alive to help the team in any fashion.

if we go status quo, we'll have a hard time doing better than last year unless romo grows up some and tells TO to shut up. not likely, not romo. romo is a great qb but like all players must be in the right situation. making him force plays to keep TO happy isn't his nature and it takes away from how he comfortably plays the game.

the players would follow current leadership if we lost a few of the players who simply exist to cause a divide. TO may bring a lot to the table but he tends to take away also. i think we're getting to the point where we're breaking even or he's taking more than he's giving.

at that point it's time for him to go.

our problem is leadership. wade either needs to establish it (hard to do with a coach in waiting going YEA! to all you say) or leave. personally since next year would be a lame duck year for him anyway, he needs to go. jones says we've got the core in place for long term winning but how can that be w/a lame duck coach and a coach in waiting? the only thing we've got in place is the same thing.

divided leadership among coaches. gotta fix that before anything else will fall into place.

I agree.
But in a case in which the HC is so disgustingly passive and whose team is regressing, fans here considered EVERY option, since Jerra would not.

If I am the new HC I would not want Wade within 100 mile of the team.

I do honestly believe that Wade would take the demotion to stay here.

I do not believe Wade has the kind of ego that it would bother him that much. He is a cupcake. You know it, I know, the American people know it. He literally is the Staypuft Marshmallow Man. He's the most harmless thing you can think of when Gozer wants you to pick your own destroyer.

This is also likely Wade's last job in the NFL. I don't really think he gets any offers for not only HC positions, but DC as well.

Jerry Jones would most likely keep paying Wade his current salary even with the demotion.

Wade is also a perfect puppet for coach Jones, and you really have to be subservient to accept that role. It drove out two other guys who did have egos too big for that (Johnson and Parcells). He's a company man all the way.

He's in his 60's and in all likelihood will never get another head coaching gig in the NFL. So, what else is he going to do? He seems to get over the choking this team has had pretty quickly and always seems to point out the positive in every ridiculously negative scenario, so I don't know why he can't spin the demotion into a positive as well.

He could still say, "Hey, I'm defensive coordinator of the most popular team in the NFL".

Having said that, I'm not sure he's smart enough to take the demotion, should it ever be offered.
