Problem is a WR Tolbert is covering their gunner instead of a CB. He is the player that has been targeted both times.Do teams respect our special teams unit, or is it a failure on our coaches (Bones) as to why teams have success faking punts on us. Often times i'll see two guys covering the gunners, which is added incentive that nobody is going to be open for an easy fake. I'm not sure exactly what we're thinking, but teams have done this to us and we are stuck looking clueless. Is it a lack of focus, or just being arrogant? Please give your thoughts. Yes i'm sure it happens to other teams, but i'm focused on my team!
Exactly, and truth be told they could get him every time if they wantedYeah they need to replace Tolbert as the gunner stopper. He has zero instincts for when there might be a fake. They've gotten him twice already and if you watched Saturday they could have gotten him again because he still did not maintain any line of sight with the ball on subsequent punts.
that's on special teams coach to always be ready for it. but he tends to want to go for the big play and block a punt. an improbably play any case. we blocked two punts last year and he still thinks he can make a difference that way.Do teams respect our special teams unit, or is it a failure on our coaches (Bones) as to why teams have success faking punts on us. Now say some good stuff about usAs far as teams respecting us, the Cowboys are the very antithesis of a Dan Campbell led team. Undersized on the defensive line and soft against the run plus an offense that doesn't have a smash mouth running game isn't gonna scare other top tier playoff teams.
We shall see if our style succeeds in the playoffs.
Because other teams have two men on the gunners a lot, and cover our gunners much closer. Why the hell do we never try it?
I already have in many other posts......didn't mean to are you feel sadNow say some good stuff about us
And the eagles losing to a 3 win team was an example of luck in the present. The cowboys are a high wire act relying on turnovers and Dak's improvisational skills... Their path to victory is a narrow one. We need some luck!
Oh no doubt. We have numerous attributes but I just responding to the OPs concerns.Good scouting report on Dallas.
But the Cowboys are also athletic as heck and score a flurry of points at home.
Yes I’d say that’s dan Quinn’s style. HeOh no doubt. We have numerous attributes but I just responding to the OPs concerns.
The issue is that the Niners and Ravens rosters match up well with any team in the league. Our "unique, niche " attributes make us contenders but need the right victim to be successful......that's why turnovers and penalties mean more to us than the 2 top teams......we HAVE to get turnovers and severely limit penalties to overcome deficiencies while the ravens and Niners don't
Cheers to achieving that very goal!
WHY??????? Because our Special Team coach is an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personally. I'd leave the starting defense on the field for every punt during the playoffs to send a message "Go ahead and fake it at the 30 yd line 30 yd line"!Do teams respect our special teams unit, or is it a failure on our coaches (Bones) as to why teams have success faking punts on us. Jalen Tolbert is the only answer.I think it has something to do with using a WR (Tolbert)as the CB on punt returns. He has been burnt twice in the last few weeks. On the next punt, he was replaced.
