Why do we have a Fullback?

Because the Cowboys had one in the 90's is all I can guess

I was watching how the Vikings were running the ball down our throat with Cooke and there Fullback whatever his name was. Not even watching the Monday Night game, I'm still trying to recover from last night! Smdh
Yeah we were talking about that in the MNF game tread - SF was using their FB like the Vikes were. We use ours for decoration.

To be honest I don’t know why they went out of fashion. I think Min made it pretty darn clear how effective having a lead blocker can help an elite back.
With this OL and using Zeke as more than just a North South runner between the tackles, having a FB to help take out the 7th or 8th man in the box just makes sense. Because you know our opponents are going to stack the box against the run.
Although if Dak keeps shredding secondaries with twinkle toes Cooper then perhaps that might change how DC scheme for us... but... I digress...

I like Fullbacks!

Ahhh indeed we do!!! We have damn creativity on this offense.. We have talented players but we are our own worst enemy..Dallas can't get out of their own way!

It is listed as a known football position on Garrett's roster cheat sheet. When the roster is finalized he makes sure every position is accounted for. Think of it like a kid learning to color between the lines and it all makes sense.

When was the last time we had a FB as a lead blocker like E. Smith had with Moose Johnston? That empty set running crap is not working out worth a damn all Elliott does is go backwards half the time. I'd like to see that style of football once more and Garrett is an bozo because he was part of that offense with E. Smith and Moose.

I don't understand how we spend a good chunk on Olawale in 2018, don't use him, then spend big again to keep him here, and don't use him again.

To me, he has a great purpose. FB who is a good receiver with speed deep. We tried it once, and Olawale was open, but Dak had too much of a rush to get him the ball accurately. From the perspective of Olawale's execution and capability, it worked.

And we never saw the play again.

Olawale is a great fit for us as a complementary run threat to Zeke with the speed and hands to go deep. Like Austin. Like Pollard.

He's not a Moose, but he fits what we need for our base offense. And we don't use him, Pollard, or Austin enough.

I don't understand how we got all these players in the same mold but don't use them in that mold.

Compare that to how the Vikings use their FB and how they mix things up with Devin Smith.

They run Devin outside as much as possible. Then they throw screens to him.

We only have one play in Garrett's playbook with Zeke. That is up the middle.

the last true physical lead blocking FB we had here was Keith Smith who we let go to Raiders in FA, after we developed him well from LB to FB ,
this FB we have now is a soft powerp uff blockier in Jamele Olawula - who just gets in the way and leans on LBs ..hes' really a RB trying to disguise himsel as a FB
they imply that he has run and catch skills that is valuble as well as some special teams coverage

but he is not anywhere near what that booming blocking FB the vikes had that was knocking out LBs on their back !!
Garrett used to valuable that - even if its just an occasional change up in the run game - before we decided to get this soft puff blocking " FB " we have now.
He's useless on offense !

I can't stand both teams but this is a great MNF game..If i had to chose the lesser of two evils i would pick neither of them!! I hope they both lose

Devin Smith ? ... did you mean Davin Cook ? (vkes RB)
