Why do we have a Fullback?

I know its easy to just look at it and say, "Hey, lets use a FB like the Vikings do!", but it doesn't work that way. Mostly because a lot of this is predicated on what your starting back is comfortable with. If Zeke doesn't like a FB, then we probably won't use one. That's the thing. Most RBs coming out of College today don't know how to use a FB or aren't comfortable in an Offense that does use one. They are all coming from run and shoot concepts from HS that don't really know how to operate in a run Centric Offense.

we didn't trade keith smith, ... we let him go in FA, that ended up being only a 200,000K difference than what he signed on with Raiders.
Coincidentally we panicked and then traded with the Raiders to acquire their FB Jamele Olawuze (sp) as we were told he can do it all (run, catch, block) as well
as contribute on special teams.

Thanks, got the two flipped on how they were acquired by the Cowboys/Raiders.

So? I thought the object of the game was to score more points and get wins...

And if its so easy to take away their run game why didn't we do it, or every team for that matter.
PPG is not a good measurement? I assume you'd rather go with yards...

There's more than one way to skin a cat - and the Boys pretty stats aint doing it.
B/c PPG skews for outliers and is heavily influenced by defenses. Like the 9ers PPG is wildly skewed by games against Carolina and Cincy and have, what, 3 defensive touchdowns? We saw what their offense is last night. It's not good. The Vikings have failed to score more than 20 points 3 times.

I'm not talking about fancy stats. Just watch.

There are outliers for everything in football.

And if our O is sooo much better then why always the slow starts.

Idk. The 9ers and Vikings have had games where they didn't start at all.

But that supposed to happen - they are miles below the Dallas offense. ; )

Aint arguing that they(Minn and SF) have a better offense its the "miles" thing that I don't agree with so much.

Tho there is is argument o be made with SF - Not crazy about Jimmy G.

i think the niners and vikings use them more than any other team in the league. The FB position is pretty much extinct.
