Personally, I have no problem with fans doing whatever they can to either motivate or coerce Jerry Jones into finally being an intelligent owner and ridding his team of an unqualified general manager. He is his own worst enemy for obtaining his goals for his team.
What has always shaken my head are empty words. "I'll turn off the tv." "I'll wish for losses." "I'll root for another team." "I hope other teams' fans will take over the stadium." "I don't give Jerry any of my money." Etc. And do not forget fans devaluing, dismissing, belittling fellow fans for buying team apparel, seeing their favorite team in person, etc.
All blank rhetoric that has and will never make Jones do the right thing. There are people who have acted in real, meaningful ways, though. People like Stephen Gonzalez (
link). He didn't make Jones move one millimeter to the light of reason. What he did do was
something. He sacrificed one second of his life in doing something that might have--at the very least--made Jones chuckle when he heard the story.
That is what's missing from the forever narrative of forcing Jones to do what he has never wanted to do. What has always been needed are more Stephen Gonzalezes. People who do not go onto sports fansites, type out zero plans, and invalidating other fans' self-worth. It's people that take a day out of their lives and make themselves seen. Those are my heroes in the totally unnecessary neverending fight to slap a tiny bit of common sense into Mad Genius.
