First guessing here. Dont you want an athlete back there in case things break down?

Mcgee, Crayton, Buehler,?

The reason given is that McBriar can spend all his time with Folk in practice vs someone else that wouldn't always be available due to other responsibilities.

Buehler can't hold because we wouldn't have a holder if Folk gets hurt and Beuhler has to kick.

McGee can't hold because he's the inactive emergency 3rd quarterback and if he comes into the game at all Romo and Kitna are not allowed to play.

Ideally I'd want Kitna holding back there, but I guess the coaches decided not to have him do it or maybe he's not that great at it.

Didn't McBriar play rugby? That's athlete enough for me.

If you go back and watch most of the kicks, you will see the McBriar has made some great plays while holding for the Folk. There have been several off target snaps where he was still able to catch the ball and put it down for the kick.

From what I can tell, he only messed up one hold and that was when he did not get the laces away from the kicker side.

Tony was a very good and consistent holder. The playoff game was his only screw up.

McBriar holds because he's the only other player besides Folk who can afford to have his hands coated in superglue before a play.

I want Felix to be holder. Keep the other team's pucker factor high. :D

Because he is able to spend more time with Folk working on holds while the rest of the team is working on offense and defense.

I completely agree. The 'getting an athlete' as a holder is a bit overblown as I would just rather take a fantastic holder that isn't that great of an athlete than the athlete that is a decent holder. Ladoceur is a very good long snapper, so we really just need a guy that can handle the ball back there.

My hope is that McBriar just needs some experience and his holding doesn't cost us an important FG for this year and then come next year and beyond his holding improves to the point he becomes a very good holder.

With the problems Kitna has had in the past with the qb/center exchange, he's probably not someone you want holding for kicks.

Its my understanding holding isnt very hard. Someone w/ good hands like Crayton should be able to do it.

Odds are nothing will happen, but if it did Mcbriar aint making any plays

It's not possible to be any more wrong than you are right now.

It's extremely tough, one of the more specialized positions on the field in fact, requiring very fast response and reflexes.

if the question is coming up due to Folks miss this past sunday I gotta
believe the hold had nothing to do with it.

from my seat, i actually heard Folks foot hit the ball. i swear i am not making this up.

as soon as he hit it and i heard it i told my wife he hit it too fat because i have never heard a kick before.

i dont know if a field mic picked up the sound or if Folk got too much foot on the ball.

So that we no longer rely on a dinosaur QB like Brad Johnson.
