Why Does Mcbriar Hold?

It's not possible to be any more wrong than you are right now.

It's extremely tough, one of the more specialized positions on the field in fact, requiring very fast response and reflexes.

And yet Mcbriar failed to get the laces out.

Step 1: Catch it
Step 2: Put it down(Very underrated)
Step 3: Spin if necessary

Im sure the majority of skill players could handle it. Mcbriar probably does it b/c he can practice the timing w/ LP and Folk.

The reason given is that McBriar can spend all his time with Folk in practice vs someone else that wouldn't always be available due to other responsibilities.

Buehler can't hold because we wouldn't have a holder if Folk gets hurt and Beuhler has to kick.

McGee can't hold because he's the inactive emergency 3rd quarterback and if he comes into the game at all Romo and Kitna are not allowed to play.

Ideally I'd want Kitna holding back there, but I guess the coaches decided not to have him do it or maybe he's not that great at it.

I agree 100%.

Cliff notes version: Kickers don't do jack all practice, so you might as well give them something to do.

:laugh2: Basically. And most kickers will jump at the chance. NTIATWWT.:D

So that we no longer rely on a dinosaur QB like Brad Johnson.

Wasn't it cool last year how the coaching staff made a big deal about how Johnson was demoted to #3 ... but then he really wasn't because he had to be active to hold.

I sure miss that old so and so.

Can't be worse than having our starting QB back there! *ZING*

you missed some steps, not really in order

Step 4: Call the necessary protections on the field
Step 5: Spin the laces towards the direction of the goal posts, not just "out" (do this in literally about 1 second total time)
Step 6: Tilt the ball according to the direction of the wind
Step 7: you have to find the k-ball before the snap and make sure the ball is good

Anything I missed? It's a lot harder than it looks. By the way that ball comes at you like a rocket, it isn't as simple as just "catching it".

Step 4: Call the necessary protections on the field- I dont see any of this, just a quick check to see if the kicker is ready then snap
Step 5: Spin the laces towards the direction of the goal posts, not just "out" (do this in literally about 1 second total time) - If I can do it its not hard
Step 6: Tilt the ball according to the direction of the wind- I guess
