Aikman has anger toward Skip because of some rumor that Aikman was gay. I don't quite remember Skip's role in that but I know there was a falling out. I do think Skip hates the Cowboys.
Skip put it in his book.

Because he knows it attracts viewers, Dallas fans a lot of them and haters a lot of them. He has made multi millions playing the part of Cowboys hater. It’s all an act and if you noticed every show now follows the same script. A Cowboy hater or two on the show and one sticking up for them. Complete script. Those shows are about as real as WWE wrestling plots.

I agree smith has a beef with Dallas but that doesn't mean everything he says is wrong.

If he has a legit criticism of the cowboys, are you saying that shouldn't be discussed because he doesn't personally like them?
No, it’s not about the validity of the facts. It’s the tone of the narrative derived from those facts.

Much like anyone trolling which is initially based on facts. It’s the intent of the narrative which is to incite and bring agony to the fans .

And facts can be skewed to support the narrative .

Yeah but I honestly don’t even think he hates the Cowboys. I know real Cowboy hate when I see it and his hate seems to be for the cameras just like Bayless is a fake Cowboy fan for cameras.

I didn't realize people "hated" Mike Greenberg....but hate is always louder than love especially in 202.....4 lol.

Every network's ratings are down. CNN, HBO, ABC, FOX....streaming and the internet has killed networks.

Over on ESPN, First Take averaged 815,000 viewers, better than all of ESPN’s regular daily lineup aside from Pardon the Interruption (879,000).

ESPN's ratings may be down but First Take's are higher than ever and that's why you see Stephen A all over the network. He brings ratings.
He’s basically saying he hates the Cowboys which begun with this breakup in high school.

And his intent is to antagonize the fans. That’s trolling. And reason I’m presenting this first of all I wasn’t aware of this incident as a teenager which by his admission left quite an impression is it’s basically what we see in this forum which members intent to incite fans for sheer entertainment value .

I’m just calling it out in an attempt so members here will ignore it’s content which would clean up this forum . We the fans have the ability and power to ignore. We have ample back and forth discussions on these divided issues without feeding non Cowboy fans here simply to bring agony for their own entertainment.

This is my memory of it as well. Does Skip actually like the Cowboys as much as he professes on TV? I bet not.
He may have at one time. But after he was basically ran out of Dallas after was let go by Dallas Times Herald appeared to develop hard feelings.

As a life long New Yorker, but yet a Cowboy fan since 1971 anyway, I can tell you NYers and Giant fans often have a strangely strong and deep and irrational hatred for Dallas. I have put up with so much abuse over the team I choose to root for over the years, sometimes it's personal but sometimes they just hear "Cowboy" and descend into this pavlovian tirade with so many irrational comments. I should have kept notes over the years, some of their justifications are just head shakingly stupid. Maybe it has to do with some ego we New Yorkers get from where we were born and raised (right or wrong) and cant accept our Knicks, Mets, Rangers and Giants not being sports dynasties so we hate on other New Yorkers who take the easy road and root for an out of town winner. I'm guilty of doing that, yet I have stuck with my Mets and Knicks for 50 years. Giants lived through 20 dark years (@62 to 82) and then when the Giants good run (82 to 90) ran out guess who the next dynasty was? Yup Dallas. They were like "here we go again" They bleeping hate us. Its really childish at times, SAS a classic example.

The Cowboys sell papers, having the unique (and enviable) position of being both the most loved, and most hated, sports franchise in these United States. The morning sports talk shows can't go a single day without at least one fifteen-minute segment devoted to them.

The Jeffersonian (George, not Thomas) schtick Smith brings to the First Take circus ring is for entertainment purposes only. The anti-SAS, Cowboy-obsessed clown is, of course, Skip Bayless. But that's a subject for another thread.

Because he is not a profesional journalist. He is a paid actor to promote hate on a team, which people loves, therefore, people watch.

I believe, if im not mistaken, if you are biased and can’t call yourself a journalist.

He likes money, not to inform people.

Since the last 90s, when Smith first started appearing on television, he has found it difficult to conceal his loathing of America's team. This has been going on for decades, and Dallas' underachievement has only added fuel to the fire. Stephen A. Smith cannot hold his tongue and fans have endured his shenanigans for years.

It might surprise you, but Smith's loathing of America's team does not stem from sporting merits but rather something fairly personal. Smith said in an old interview that the reason behind his dislike for the franchise stems back to his first love interest way back in high school. The current ESPN headliner was once head over heels for a girl back in high school who was a Cowboys fan.

According to Stephen A. Smith:
Smith:
Because hating the Cowboys sells.

He discovered early that just as there are many millions of Cowboys fans....there are millions of haters as well who need a voice. While Skip is at the other end of the spectrum being "MY" Cowboys... so they each pander to their fan base.

Ratings. Ratings bring viewers, viewers bring money, Steven A cashes the checks. Circle of the Cowboys.

One, he's a Steelers fan. Two, "hating" on the Cowboys is always good for clicks. Fellow haters love it and Cowboys fans take the bait, every time.

Hate? He loves the Cowboys because his schtick has helped improve his brand. I wish I'd thought of it first if it would make me rich. Lol.

He takes on this stance to get attention, which brings him millions of dollars.

Anthony Hopkins played the part of Hannibal Lecter. He made millions.

Neither personas are the real person.

Basically. He’s a heel. He found a lane and ran with it…I will give him his due. Before him I don’t remember too many anti Cowboy fans in media. Now everyone is one. He found out that his Cowboys hate produced ratings.
Skip Bayless was the first that I seen that hated on the Cowboys when T.O. and Romo first got Together. Once Parcells retired the rest of the Espn crew like Keyshawn, Berman, Tom Jackson started bashing the Cowboys to show support for Parcells who many thought retired because Jerry signed Owens.
When the Cowboys got rid of T.o. Skip jumped back on board and that opened up the spot for Stephen A smith to be anti Cowboys to debate against Skip.
Once that happened you started seeing everybody doing the same thing on other networks.

When Steven a first started in the media he wasn’t a Dallas hater like he is now. He only became one when it became financially smart for him to do so.

I don’t hate him either… but I see right through his anti Dallas BS.
