Why has Kellen not given Turpin at least 2-5 touches per game?

because he is a moron
that , but also jerry wants most of the targets going to gallup and lamb, they had 17 targets sun nite, that is half the passes!
They only caught 7 of them.
Noah who was rush fav target early on only got 3 targets !
In a game like this with rush at qb, they should have given brown the most targets as # 1 option.
save the other 2 for when dak starts.

The coaches for dallas were so bad last nite, it is amazing the game was as close as it was.
plus the whole team was bad. how many sacks did parsons have?
plus phil figured a smart way to neutralize him.

mike not challenging the 1st down then going for it with a pass play ??
That early in the game, that led to a score as well.
our coaches blew that game.

Just having him run decoys on a reverse hand off will get the defenses attention and then they might also break off a nice reverse with him. Getting him in single coverage to blow by a defender would open up the field.

They're afraid of too much noise.....

They need to perfect a silent count, or a certain snap count protocol for away games.

He slips on the first play of the game.

And, he was also in there later in the game. He just didn't do anything.

Easier said than done to get him 2-5 touches a game unless you want to give him significant snaps. If you give him 2-3 touches on 5-6 snaps then teams just hone in on him when he is in the game. You completely lose the element of surprise. Now if you give him 20+ snaps and you've motioned him into that jet motion without giving him the ball multiple times it works when you do actually hand him the ball. That is the biggest problem with these gadget players, they really need to become complete players otherwise you're wasting meaningful snaps to set up on play to get them the ball in space. Now if the Cowboys do want to use Turpin in that 2-5 touches per game role without giving him a bigger role in the offense it makes a whole lot of sense to wait until later in the year to put that on tape.

This is exactly correct.

Although, I would say you could motion Turpin pre-snap and hand it to Zeke three times.....

To me, it looks like the Cowboys are thinking 1-2 plays ahead. While the Eagles are thinking 5-6 plays into the future of the game.

That kind of stuff works.

If after the 3rd hand off after motion to Turpin, you set up Tuprin on the 4th one.. something like that. You just have to execute to get these kinds of sequences to work.

Eagles had better rhythm with their play sequences on offense.

Why has Kellen not given this guy at least 2-5 touches per game. He’s exactly the type of momentum spark we need during these games.
Turpin needs to slow his roll a little, he get's too excited and falls down on his own! He had an opportunity to rip off some yards on the kickoff return and slip and fell on their own 15 yd line! Which resulted in one of many terrible starting points for the Boys.

Great thread. Teams like KC/Andy Reid make use of all their guys with speed. Give him some jet sweep action (even as a decoy), reverse, quick screen etc.. allow him to take the top off a defense. Perhaps wanting to simplify things for Rush? Praying that we get this guy involved.

There's a lot of 150 lbers who really want him to be more than a returner, because they want someone their size to succeed in the NFL.

Rarely happens.

I think against a team like the Eagles getting Turpin in as a 4th or 5th receiver would have been a smart thing to do. The Cowboys were using Zeke and Pollard as WRs last night.
Lol I saw that and just shook my head.

Because that would be too easy. KM needs to look smart, so he goes for the harder options like rolling out an immobile QB for a pass play on 4th and inches.

Because he is a rookie in this league and isn't trusted to make the right decision. When being that raw at this level, married with the desire to show the world his skills, be it real or his imagination, sometimes emotions get the better end of the deal and mistakes are made.

This is not rocket surgery. This should be transparent to even the most naïve on this board.

Yet the clamoring from the cheap seats here at football central bark and bay as if their notions are Bill Belichik gold.

I imagine Kellen might offer some sane reasoning why he doesn't use Turpin more. Maybe he's been exposed to Garrett's timid ideas long enough to have followed more of them than he should have. Whatever these cautious reasons may be, it's nothing new for the Cowboys to allow some fine talents to go to waste. Many successful teams are significantly bolder in utilizing their young talent. Some OCs lack the boldness to utilize their younger players freely. Let's see if Moore ramps up Turpin's plays if his success continues to blossom.

Moore isn’t using our weapons because that’s precisely what our opponents expect…

I’ve said this since opening night in multiple threads . You can’t keep that kind of speed locked up in a ST jar . The man was a WR at TCU a major program last I checked but Simi Fehoko will get targeted in the passing game prior to his injury while Turpin is a spectator . Absurd .

He needs to first run 10,000 curl routes during the off season. Then Moore will consider to use him sparingly on jet sweeps.

He has T. Hill speed. Seems to field the ball well on kickoffs and punts. Can he run routes? I have no idea what he looks like with a defender in his pocket. Can the dude catch? Jet sweeps maybe? WR screen? He is fast. Looks different.

Maybe he can run the 30 yard slant. Lol.

Turpin would cause fits with a defense if the Cowboys had a QB that could hit a small fast moving target.
