I believe you're underrating the ability to get open in the short areas of the field. Schultz is a seam buster like Witten.In the end.....I don't like Schultz as a player, but I can see why they tagged him.
It's pretty clear they want to find a long term starter in the upcoming draft, and thats not at all a bad play considering the depth at that position this year.
I just think there's nothing special to Schultz' game.
If he had say, 48 catches instead of 78, would people feel differently in general? Probably. The impressive part is the 78.
At least the 30 difference were dump offs, probably much more.....and I just don't see that as being something any average guy named McKeon couldn't also do.
So....as far as I'm concerned, Dak can have his blankie for one more year since the run game likely won't improve anyway for 2022 with hairy boy still chugging around at TB.
Now, he does need to block better, no doubt. What is it that you don't like about him? He's a hardnosed player w/ very quick feet and a knack for getting open and has a very nice YAC ability. I really don't understand.
