Not likely! The Cowboys and Commanders both got better this offseason. People look at the Commanders and don't see much in the way of huge pick-ups and then use that and the whole Brunell thing and say we got worse.
First off, we picked up people who filled holes. #2 receivers, SS, DL. Only real huge piece we miss now is WLB. We missed that last year too, Lavar didn't play for us very much. So to say that we got worse, I think is ********. Also, we picked up a genius OC (Al Saunders). If we didn't make a single move in the offseason, that acquisition alone would do wonders for our offense.
As for Brunell, he is getting much less work this year. I think he can probably give another great season. But even failing, he had a pretty decent season last year. And Jason Campbell is going to be practicing a lot, so if Brunell does go down, we have a practiced guy behind him. Worth is unknown right now, but he shouldn't be rusty or need too much adjustment into the scheme as he will have been taking a majority of the snaps. I think our QB situation looks good. Not great, but good. Clinton Portis is going to be a beast under Saunders too. If Johnston can get 1700 yards, imagine what Portis could do!
But saying TO will buy you two games, or a kicker will give you two, that's just fallacy. How many times did the DEFENSE blow the lead? How is TO or a kicker supposed to help that? Or how many times did the offensive line allow a key sack? I agree 100% that TO makes you more competitive and a kicker gives you a better chance of pulling out a home game, but it's not as easy as adding wins like that.
