Why I would like Anthony Lynn as OC

I think a lot of us would like Moore gone. If a coach needs to leave, then a replacement must be found. I would like to see Anthony Lynn be our next OC. He's currently the RBs coach and assistant HC. Unless his position requires only a HC interview, I think that he'd be an excellent hire by us.

  • He's from BOTH the Shanahan (Mike and Kyle) and Parcells tree. He played RB for Mike when they won the two SBs backing up Terrell Davis. He was the RBs coach here between 2005 - 2006.
  • He's a running back, and I think would put more emphasis on the run, which is our strength.
  • He's got HC experience, which is a plus.
  • He's not technically the OC as he's the running game coordinator. So, I think we might be able to request an interview.
I think that he'd be an excellent OC for us if Moore leaves. I'd love to bring him in

Doesn't matter what the fans want. Never has. That being said, his fate isn't any different than Big Mike's fate. What happens from here on.

Great post though. I enjoyed reading it! Many good points.

Fur sure. It's unlikely to happen as we fans want, but I just thought that I'd share my thoughts on Lynn and why I think he'd be the ideal replacement in my view. I appreciate the comments.

You got that right and this fan base is about as fickle as it gets. When Kellen Moore first took over as OC, some fans were calling him a genius. Some wanted him as the next HC. It didn’t take long before fans were calling for his head. Lol

Yup lol. It's almost a shame this board didn't exist during the Landry years before the Super Bowls. I wonder what it'd have been like then. I wonder what fans would've thought of Staubach before the SBs.

Then you’ve obviously been on this board for a while. One minute fans can love a coach/coordinator and the next minute they want them fired. There was a big love affair for Dan Quinn but now some fans are bailing on him.

I'm still on the Quinn train. I think he's done well turning a bad defence into a very good one. I think the key for him is to get a very solid NT. I've been highlighting that since the offseason.

They definitely would’ve been calling for Landry’s head if we had fan boards/Internet back in the old days. As for Roger Staubach he actually did pretty good with every opportunity he got early on. This is how he became the Cowboys QB. It took a lot to convince Tom Landry to move on from Craig Morton.

Ooof, how bad would that egg be if theyd been calling for it until SB 6? (The board probably would have imploded after SB 5)

I’m still on board with Quinn as the DC but some fans have jumped off his bandwagon in recent weeks. The defense has regressed and Parsons hasn’t looked as good. It has a number of fans questioning Quinn.

Landry took over an expansion team and fortunately he had an owner that was patient. With all the money players make these days owners aren’t as patient as they used to be. We’ve already seen two head coaches get the ax after one season.

Yes, because we all know that injuries are never a factor in the NFL, and losing Hankins was just fine.

And two over the last two seasons not even fully through their first season.

Being an HC is a thankless job. You’re at the mercy of your players, especially your QB. If you don’t have a solid, consistent QB you’re screwed! All these coaches that got fired have bad QB situations. Granted Kingsbury had Kyler Murray, but he hasn’t been real consistent and losing him to an injury didn’t help.

Not to mention Murray's alleged maturity issues.

I hope Moore gets a HC gig somewhere.
Win for him, and maybe us.
I think our offense is too Bland and vanilla.
It's stale.
Let's change things up.

I've been wanting a big NT for 30 years now, the Cowboys will never draft a big DT/NT in the first. We might take a flyer on a big NT around the 3rd or 4th who if he can match his talent with a good motor he would of been a 1st rounder
