Why I would like Anthony Lynn as OC

FWIW Lynn is a big reason why I chose Texas Tech.
He was Texas Tech's starting RB in 1990 and I loved his physical game and post-game comments.

All that said I just don't know if we will roll with a run heavy OC anytime soon.

I suppose not, but we should. Let's take this hypothetical to factor into this thread. Pollard is a FA after this year, and there's a possibility that we may be cutting Zeke after the season, correct? So, that leaves our current running back, assuming no other additions, as Malik Davis. Yes, he has shown promise, but I'm not sure he's a reliable starter. Who do you trust to find a replacement RB more? Lynn or Moore?

Yes, and we might well be down to one RB after this season. I would trust Lynn more than Moore or Nussmeier to reload our RB room.
I would be down to one RB after this season myself. That RB would be the one who is the biggest playmaker on the offense
No knock on the other RB but I keep the guy who can turn a swing pass into a TD

I say this hypothetical scenario because we are built more towards running the ball than we are being more pass happy. So, it'd make logical sense to choose an OC who leans more towards what we do best. In doing so, it means that we will be more likely to not only reload the running game, but we will also be in a position to do more PA passing, which is what Dak does best. So, Lynn helps this team more than Moore does, imo.

Yes, but would you pay a lot of money to Pollard? Or, if we are going to draft a RB (and we should even if we keep Pollard), wouldn't it be nice to have the OC as someone who knows the inside and out of that position be able to address one of the key parts of our offense?

Then you’ve obviously been on this board for a while. One minute fans can love a coach/coordinator and the next minute they want them fired. There was a big love affair for Dan Quinn but now some fans are bailing on him.
Ya if the gameday threads are not example enough of the randomness of this fanbase you can just follow it for about a month. This fanbase is incredibly emotional. I hear well 27 years will do that but ive been on cowboy message boards for at least 17 years and its been the same thing.

We are an entitled group some more than others but the 70s and 90s success was a great thing for us but its also made it so a very large group of us havent been able to handle the Romo and dak years well. Or better yet the garrett and Jones years. Im, guilty of not liking the GM for ****. I probably blame him and steven for more than they are responsible for.

Thats a long winded way of saying agree with you

I’d pay pollard and draft a RB in the middle rounds. Pollard won’t cost what Zeke cost and you save a fortune after this year on zeke’s salary. It cost to cut him this year but moving forward it clears enough to pay the guys we have coming due
Also I think a smart guy could use pollard just like CMC is being used

I'll agree with that. I think we would be forced to take a mid round RB because of higher potential needs. That being said, it still to me makes sense to bring in Lynn as 1. He would know how to use Pollard better and 2. he would understand what we need at RB better.

I think a lot of us would like Moore gone. If a coach needs to leave, then a replacement must be found. I would like to see Anthony Lynn be our next OC. He's currently the RBs coach and assistant HC. Unless his position requires only a HC interview, I think that he'd be an excellent hire by us.

  • He's from BOTH the Shanahan (Mike and Kyle) and Parcells tree. He played RB for Mike when they won the two SBs backing up Terrell Davis. He was the RBs coach here between 2005 - 2006.
  • He's a running back, and I think would put more emphasis on the run, which is our strength.
  • He's got HC experience, which is a plus.
  • He's not technically the OC as he's the running game coordinator. So, I think we might be able to request an interview.
I think that he'd be an excellent OC for us if Moore leaves. I'd love to bring him in
That would only work if they could hire an OL coach from the Shanahan coaching tree...
