Who is Anthony Lynn? Why are we replacing KM before our season is over? If we win the Super Bowl, we are not firing KM.

I'll answer the second question first. Of course, if we have a great postseason, then no. However, let's assume, hypothetically, that we go one and done and it's an obvious playcaller issue. Or, let's say that Kellen Moore gets hired by the Arizona Cardinals for their HC position. In that case, we'd have to have a new OC. This is where Anthony Lynn comes in. He's currently the running game coordinator and Assistant HC for the SF 49ers under Kyle Shanahan. He's was HC of the Chargers for 3 years. He was the RB coach here under Parcells between 2005-2006 (and was also under Sean Payton who was the OC in 2005). So, he's got a wealth of experience. I think that he'd make a good replacement on the grounds of his experience and his likely emphasis on the run game (which is a strength of ours).

You got that right and this fan base is about as fickle as it gets. When Kellen Moore first took over as OC, some fans were calling him a genius. Some wanted him as the next HC. It didn’t take long before fans were calling for his head. Lol
Only some fans were on the Moore bandwagon.some of us were deeply skeptical of Moore from the beginning. I’ve seen this movie before with Jason Garrett.

Okay, s we'll wait and see what happens but just in case things don't go well, we have his name on the list of candidates for OC. But of course that hire will be up to our HC.

In the beginning there were a lot of fans on the Kellen Moore bandwagon. Our offense came flying out of the gates with a lot of creativity with him in the beginning and the fans were loving it.

I think a lot of us would like Moore gone. If a coach needs to leave, then a replacement must be found. I would like to see Anthony Lynn be our next OC. He's currently the RBs coach and assistant HC. Unless his position requires only a HC interview, I think that he'd be an excellent hire by us.

  • He's from BOTH the Shanahan (Mike and Kyle) and Parcells tree. He played RB for Mike when they won the two SBs backing up Terrell Davis. He was the RBs coach here between 2005 - 2006.
  • He's a running back, and I think would put more emphasis on the run, which is our strength.
  • He's got HC experience, which is a plus.
  • He's not technically the OC as he's the running game coordinator. So, I think we might be able to request an interview.
I think that he'd be an excellent OC for us if Moore leaves. I'd love to bring him in
FWIW Lynn is a big reason why I chose Texas Tech.
He was Texas Tech's starting RB in 1990 and I loved his physical game and post-game comments.

All that said I just don't know if we will roll with a run heavy OC anytime soon.

In the beginning there was a lot of aggressive, creative playcalling. Things started changing after Dak got hurt in 2020. I haven’t been as down on Kellen Moore’s playcalling as some fans. We’ve been generating a lot of points ever since he arrived. If he moves on to a HC opportunity whoever we bring in at OC is going to be under scrutiny by the fans.

Reality! In the unfortunate event Moore leaves, Nussmier will most likely be the next OC. That certainty is probably around 99%!

And this is new on this forum? I'm posting an opinion of who I would like, and I think that I made that this is my opinion very clear even in the title by saying "Why I would like". So, clearly, I'm not expecting it to happen. I'm just giving my opinion, and I'm curious about the opinion of others on this subject.
