The guy made his name, mod job, and super cool guitar there. Why does he always have a negative view on Big D?? Anyone know?

I think as long as he has been in the public eye, Aikman has had a dour, somewhat pessimistic personality. It's just who he is.

That doesn't diminish from everything he accomplished as a Cowboy or all he means to our franchise and its history.

He's a guy who sees the glass half-empty, and I think he'd admit that... it's nothing personal with the Cowboys, it's just who he is.

Aikman's being objective. As Cowboys fans, it may hurt to hear one of our hero's criticize the team, but it's not like he's wrong or anything. It's his job.

You betcha.

Yea, it gets annoying. Not sure what this dudes problem is. He also likes to knock on Bledsoe. I hope to see less of the Aikman/Buck combo doing Cowboy games.

Ok, I guess no other analyst knocks on Bledsoe.

Why does he need to show us respect? We haven't won a playoff game in 9 years.

That's pathetic.

It's enough he doesn't bash us for our performances.

He's a pro and doesn't wanna seem like a biased homer....to me thats respectable.
I totally agree. Whenever we're doing something good he gives us credit, when we're not doing good he points it out. That's being objective, not being another Dallas Homer who sees no wrong.

Aikman is a very good analyst and very fair IMO, Joe Buck is just flat out annoying... He's not funny at all, especially when he tries too hard to be...

But, I'd rather have Moose and his sidekick (can't remember his name) when I'm watching Cowboy games any day...

I think thats about the size of it. And of course that pertains to fans also.

Some fans when a season starts tend to take the slant that "We're #1 baby" until proven otherwise. Others, like myself, tend to take the slant that we aint good enough and the team needs to prove it to me. Even in years when the team actually is really good.

I think there are two pretty good reasons for this:

1. Aikman is a pessimistic guy, and is just saying things the way he sees them.

2. Aikman is trying to hide his bias for the Cowboys by being negative.

Aikman doesn't hate the Cowboys for cutting him. Dallas was the team he played with his whole career, and got him 3 super bowls. That just seems silly to me...

I agree, plus everyone can't have the enthusiasm of Irving, lol.

These threads are pathetic. Aikman's has never struck as being anything but objective. If he has criticized us, it's probably because we've sucked for the last several years.

And what's this about Aikman refusing to restructure his contract. Aikman spent his whole career restructing his contracts (probably holds some kind of record for most restructures by a QB) so we could fit under the cap. You better check your info again. Finally, if you remember Aikman was cut by the Cowboys because they didn't want to pay him the $7M they owed him as a result of his having restructured his last signing bonus into 2 payments so Cowboys could fit it under the cap. How many players in today's NFL delay 1/2 their signing bonus for 2-3 years just so we under the cap. Ironic he was cut cause they didn't want to pay it but actually it was cause we all knew he physically couldn't play any more (consussions & his back).

Aikman's a fair man who presents the game as objectively as he can; he's the kind of guy who doesn't butter up anybody and won't be a homer like so many want. He's not Joey Theisman and never will. That's why is so highly regarded by many Cowboy fans & those who aren't; they know they get a fair day from him. Although I must admit, I do like Moose better cause I think he just a little more laid back & a little funnier.

I wouldn't blame Troy for being disgusted with JJ. He could've been the most winning QB of all time, if not for JJ and JJ's antics. The coaching carousel that followed the departure of Jimmy Johnson was sickening.

Even more sickening was the waste of Irvin, Emmitt and Aikman in the prime of their careers. I am thankful for the SBs, but come on...JJ's pride got the best of him. His hand could be full of rings and it isn't because of his inability to GM worth a darn in the mid-late 90s.

Out...

He doesn't come across as object. He comes across as vindictive (for whatever reason.

I mentioned it already. Troy is OUR Boy. All the way. That's why ANYTHING he says negative about the Cowboys seems magnified. But it's just his job.

Get over it. He doesnt get paid to support the Cowboys, he is now an NFL analyst. I respect him because he tries so hard to remain neutral.

No doubt about it. I love that he's neutral. I hate homers, whether they are for dallas or for someone else.

Aikman is one of the best in the business in broadcasting, and he's only done it a few years.

On another note, I can't stand Joe Thiesman as a broadcaster, but to be fair, he has always been neutral, and I respect that too.
