Why is any of this a surprise?

A lot of us hoped for the best, but aren’t surprised it’s not working out. Chances were the dline would struggle, the rookie o linemen would struggle, and Dowdle wouldn’t become a pro bowl caliber back. I know the coaching would suck again, after seeing what happened in the playoffs last year, no way would McCarthu work out. Some how Jerry is oblivious to this.

I don’t see how we could have anywhere close to as good as we were last season. We let quite a bit of talent leave (many going to Washington) and did not sign anyone to backfill them. Were they the top of the NFL at their positions? No but they were the depth that every team needs behind the stars. Pollard was half our offensive stats and we let him go and brought in a washed Zeke at the end of his career. On defense we have guys who nobody knew their names a year ago. The only thing that the front office might have thought is that they had a ton of young talent that were ready to step up when they left but I didn’t see it in the offseason and it hasn’t shown up on the field.
