Why is any of this a surprise?

Most saw this coming but to be fair, injuries have been awful this year.

Those can't be discounted and need taken into consideration.
That last sentence is vintage Jerry speak.

44-19 Saints loss and the Ravens 275 rushing yards game happened before any major injuries to our team.

I actually posted after the injuries that I was afraid there be revionist history concerning injuries and using it to excuse our team sucking.

We have been the worst rushing team ALL year

You have to be impressed with just how spectacular the collapse has been. Ever since they took the field against GB. The performance of the players and the coaching that day, reached new depths. Then the management took over in the off season. Losing Quinn and replacing him with Zimmer. The ridiculous free agency strategy. Losing all our depth on the D-Line. The drawn out contract negotiations. Even how the schedule came together went against us. Then all the late off season moves to fill holes in the roster failed. Digg's struggle to return to form. Steele unable to get back to pre-injury form. Then all the injuries. Martin's fall off the cliff. Every word out of everyone's mouth. Every decision and non-decision the management and coaches have made have been wrong.

One total and complete cluster for the year 2024. It's hard to imagine what could possibly go wrong next. But I'm sure it's coming.
Sometimes when you think you’ve reached rock bottom, someone hands you a shovel!

The other factor that will make our resurgence dauting is that the Commanders have finally righted the ship (funny how new ownership can do that....one can dream)

The Eagles are always good. That leaves us and the Giants in a race to the bottom over the next few years.

I am glad the OP pointed out this is not a 1 off-season fix. At a minimum we will need 2 quality OL. We will need 1 high caliber WR. We will need a high caliber RB. We need a new play caller. That's just the offense

The DL will need 2 - 3 high caliber players. Cannot expect Sam Williams to return to form. Not sure about Kneeland. Lawrence will be gone. Smith has no 2nd contract future in Dallas. We will need 2 LBers. We will probably need 2 CBs. And probably a Safety. And we will need a new defensive coordinator.

We also need a new head coach. So buckle up folks, we are a couple of years away from just returning to 12 - 5.

I will keep calling them out. The were not being positive, far from it. They were antagonistic toward anyone who suggested reasons why he might not be the lead horse we needed to tie our future to. They were very gleeful in him being the QB "for years to come" so I want them to reap the rewards of that fateful decision.

As one of their champions liked to say, DURR!! :lmao::laugh::muttley::oldcouple::welcome:
Some may have been happy or just liked to stir the pot like the haters....at the end if the day, he was signed. What can we do....I guess venting rooting for your team to fail is about it

When no one was held accountable for the playoff pouncing, nothing was done in the off-season and no running back drafted I told everyone around me they would implode. This team will not be relevant again in the foreseeable future, there are just too many holes and you have too much money tied into Dak and CD. Another offseason will come with minimal activity and they will try and improve via the draft.

They need to begin trading their most valuable assets for draft pick. I would trade any player on the roster for the highest value.
The offseason they had was pitiful coming off the GB game and so it's not a surprise they took a step back. However, coming off 3 straight 12 win seasons and seeing the core talent still here it would be reasonable to assume they could still be a playoff contender.

Obviously not the case, but as quickly as they went from a 12 win team to this It doesn't mean it can't look different next season.

It is not a surprise to me. The off-season kind of told us what 2024 would look like. We got trounced by the Packers and Jerry spent the offseason doing nothing, not even signing, or trading, his own players. Based on the personnel losses, the Cowboys had to be a worse team than 2023. I don't think anyone suspected they would be this bad, but losses to injuries, and Dak's regression, have made them a pretty bad team right now.

With Dak injured they have an opportunity to scout the talent they have and begin preparing for the next three years when they will have to rebuild the roster. But instead, the will force their game plans to the guys they liked going into the season and they will enter the 2025 season not knowing if any of the scrubs they have are worthy.
Before the season I had:

L to Cleveland
W Saints
L to Balt
W NYG
L at Pitt
W Det
L at SF
L at Atl
L Phil

So yes 3-6 was easily foreseeable

only the hard core Dakvidians and eternal homers are surprised. everyone else was fully aware.

Yep, when I first saw the schedule and noticed we have to play REAL teams this time around I knew it was going to a longggggg season.
Add to the fact you paid 90 million $ for a QB/WR combo that's worth a happy meal at McDonalds vs playoff-caliber defenses well the rest is being played out weekly for all to see.
This is only the beginning as you simply don't have the Cap or the F/O to take this ship out of sewage waters.
P,S, I predicted a 2-7 start but we got lucky with the Steelers having to play Fields instead of Wilson.

ha, yeah

Basically they were like "Wow we were humiliated at home. Let's re-up on that"

But don't worry GM Jethro is expecting a lot of comp picks.

And let the worst GM in football waste those picks. No thanks.

Yea I thought if they stayed relatively healthy they would be a 9-8 team missing the playoffs. Obviously with the injuries it's much worse because again Jerry sat on his hands and did nothing in the off season. I would much rather this mess to get better draft picks then them just missing the playoffs and hearing old man Jerrah try to sell us on how close they were.

I can that you’re slowly coming around. I’ve reserved one seat on the bus for you. Just let me know when you’re ready to jump on.
Ranch Prolly been on the bus, got off to stretch his legs. Then drive it for while.
I sit in your camp (that bus) .
I just don't have the nrg to tirade Prescott.
He's (we all know the answers).
JJ will always build nearly teams.
That's ok with me.
I'll be nearly interested.

When young up and coming NFL executives of the future will study how NOT to do an off-season, this Cowboys off-season will be the cautionary tale.

This throw-away season is a perfect example that it is possible to lose a season based on what you don’t do in the off-season. This was a kamikaze mission since last spring.
