Why is Atlanta in the SB and we are not?

Atlanta has play makers on defense. When they had a top 5 pick, they used it correctly. By going out and getting that pass rusher. Took Beasley with like the 4th pick. The guy led the league in sacks this year. They also pay their RB's something like 1.5 million a year combined.

Love Zeke, but with this line and the way you can get great RB's in the later rounds, we blew it again.

I'd like to see Dak carry this team without Zeke and the 8 and 9 men in the box and the play-action we were running all the time and get 13-3...

Who was there at #4 that was a worthy pass rushing DE or even DT?

How did you like watching us lose our first playoff game?

We could have started Romo and scored off the bat with Zeke and forced GB to keep pace.... Like Atlanta did...

The reason we didnt score had nothing to do with the QB. It was penalties. And most likely Romo would have thrown 3 picks in that game trying to do it all himself. And talk about the chemistry being ruined immediately?

I wasn't for throwing Romo in there for Dak, but come on, Roy.

Romo has one real int in the playoffs in his entire career.
In his most recent playoffs, he had none, all while leading all QBs in playoff QB rating with a whopping 125.7 over two games. He also trailed by two TDs vs a very strong defesne in one of the games and pulled them back for the win while not turning it over.
You're being too hard on the old guy.:muttley:
Again, not voting to pull Dak, just throwing out some fact.

You could have gotten a great RB in the later rounds. We got an elite running back in the first round. And thank God we did. The only defensive player worthy at #4 was Bosa and he was off the board.

Ironically if we had stayed patient and leaned more on that #4 pick we would have controlled the game and won the damn thang...

When the score was yet 7-3 we got pass happy...

You glossed over the fact that Dak played extremely well in the playoff game except one bad throw (Rodgers also had 1 int) and lead his team back from 21-3 against Aaron Rodgers. David Irving was tackled to the ground during the game winning throw obvious penalty missed by the refs or it goes to OT and who knows what happens from there.

This thread is silly we didn't lose because of Zeke. Zeke was a beast. Besides Joey Bosa went to San Diego pick 3 so who was this beast defensive player that would have made a bigger impact than Zeke and lead us to the Super Bowl? Jalen Ramsey? Without Zeke DMac was hurt most of the year so I guess Alfred Morris would have lead us to the Super Bowl. You're just changing out one hole for another. The offense benefited from Zeke and one player wouldn't have made our defense great as a rookie, so most likely we aren't even a playoff team.

Zeke was awesome.
Dont see how, at this point, anyone could be too upset with the pick.
But just to be clear, if we hadnt taken Zeke, we would've probably taken Howard later according to our draft board. He also was also a Pro Bowl level stud..and finished 2nd in the NFL in rushing...and went in the 5th round (Dallas wouldve taken him instead of Tapper, probably).

But yes, it was not possible to get Bosa since SD wanted him. No chance of moving up ahead of them. So we'd have maybe taken Ramsey or traded down and gotten maybe get Tunsil or Leonard Floyd and an extra second or 3rd. Then have gotten Henry or Howard at RB.

Atlanta is in the SB because their high octane offense that was the 8th highest scoring offense in league history was able to win shootouts during most of the regular season and their defense that has a number of holes stepped up in the playoffs. They're in the SB and we didn't even come close because they have explosiveness on offense and our bend but don't break defense always ends up breaking in the playoffs. To say we blew it by drafting Zeke is ridiculous! We found out in 2015 that not any back can produce big numbers and score TD's behind our OL. Morris was a disappointment behind our OL this season because the back matters. Had we had an average back this past season Dak would have never had the success he did.

We were in position with the 4th overall pick to land a special back and Zeke was one of the main reasons we had such a great regular season in 2016. I remember you from the old FWST board back in 2002 and you had no clue then what you were talking about and you continue not to have a clue what you're talking about now. I wish that old board still existed so I could dig up some of your old posts and post them here so everyone could have a good laugh. You were picking our 5-11 teams to go to the SB and claimed Quincy Carter was our next great franchise QB. The gems you posted on that board had you running for cover for weeks at a time. You would log onto the board and lurk for weeks without posting not wanting to face the backlash from some of your ridiculous calls. lol

Because Romo threw picks when he actually had a running game.. 7 INTs the whole year and basically perfect in Lambeau in freezing cold with a healthy GB secondary..

Sorry, but with Zeke in, teams wouldn't be stacking 8 and 9 in the box with the deep threat of Romo..

And Dak started off slow irrespective..

And why do you say that, because no other defensive players busted out? They typically dont in their first year. There will be several defensive stars from this year. Probably wont get dominant till 2nd or 3rd year.

Agreed, but when we were down 21-3 Romo would have been slinging like there was no tomorrow.

That was my worst fear coming true, we simply got away from what we do best...
