Why is Barber fumbling?

I currently in the middle of moving, so I haven't had much time to do anything other than watch the live games lately (with family all around), but I was hoping to get some theories on why Barber is fumbling lately. Isn't that two of the last three games where he coughed it up to help kill the momentum?

A little insight please?? :)

Good question.

A better question would be, "Why in the world are we giving to most carries to a gimpy running back with a broken thumb?"

not sure...but I do know that Leonard Davis COMPLETLEY WHIFFED on the guy that forced the fumble....not sure anyone is talking about that.

Wasn't that his 2nd fumble of the year?

15 fumbles on 867 carries and 155 receptions (only 5 lost).

But 2 fumbles in the last 3 games is odd. I don't think it's enough to call him a "fumbler." The fumble vs Washington was a good hit by Fletcher. The one last night was partly a good hit and partly sloppy ball handling. I think he thought he could get around the defender; just a poor decision.

He won't let it happen again.

Not really. But that fumble was the tide-changer yesterday.

The problem is I'm not sure he isn't a stupid player. He shouldn't have been cutting that one back up inside in the first place. If he goes to the sidelines like he should have there the ball probably doesn't get poked out from a simple swipe.

When you have one TO left and about 1 minute of clock you don't try to get 2-3 yards at the cost of 10-15 seconds of clock. Barber has done that one several times in the past.

*Love* Barber. Love his attitude. That said, he was holding the ball out away from his body at contact. It wasn't even a decent strip, it was just carelessness with the ball and the kind of thing that just cannot happen in a big game like this. It was the game changer that broke open our piggy bank, no doubt about it.

If Choice hadn't been careless with the ball at the goal line earlier, I'd be considering flipping Barber and Choice for a game. Not because Choice is the better player (he's not), but in order to make the point that mental errors and sloppiness won't be tolerated.

If there's no back-story on Flozell (haven't heard what might have happened), I'd make an example of him for his stupid mental error at the half. You can't bench Flo, but there are other ways to make that point.

Finally, if Parcels were still here, you can bet he'd be bringing in another kicker for a tryout this week. Folk's been money for us, but we're very likely going to win or lose one of the next four games on a FG, and I'm sure not comfortable standing pat with where he's at right now.

If you breakdown barbers fumbles more than that you'll see that he is very fumble prone for stretches.

You nailed it. I mean, I like the effort, but this wasn't the time for that effort. It's gotta be about knowning where you are and the situation you're in. Sort of like the 4th down play... maybe you're right, maybe he is just not that smart. Either way, 2 poor decisions.

Because he sucks. Just another in a long line that Jerry overpaid for. Not a very good RB since he got paid. Chump. Cut or trade him. There is no need for him on our team. He adds nothing and now he cant even hang onto the damn ball.

Overpaid - probably. He hasn't played like the old Barber. But he's also had some injury problems, and I still think we should utilize him more as a closer. Plus, the O-line wasn't opening any holes yesterday. None of our running backs had anywhere to go.

But the part in bold..... Really???

Just pissed. Ranting. But there is an element of truth to what I said. He has not looked like a smart, decisive, powerful runner in quite some time. I think it is time for him to move his 2 yards and a cloud of dust routine to another team.

I don't know why, but I do know that the fumble before the half changed the game. Instead of going down and getting a FG, provided we could make a FG, the fumble gets them great FP and it isn't 13-7 good guys, it is 14-10 bad guys.
