yet when another team sends one guy up the middle to blitz we can't pick him up. We may not have the greatest lineman in the world but seriously... it has to come down to coaching.

Their OL is better than our OL.

Life is simple.

Because other teams block blitzes up the middle, instead of letting them go free.

Yeah, what is it with the Dallas blitz? No one ever comes free unless it is a CB that has to run a long distance. Does anyone have any theories?

Because the players aren't good enough. The talent isn't there. Our interior backers can't blitz for crap.

Do we even Blitz with the ILB's?, I mostly I see Ware and Ellis.

Last night we were bringing everyone up front.

And noone ever got there when we did.

It reminds me of playing football with all the kids in the neighborhood when I was a kid. When we had the ball, everyone wanted to do the same thing, Everyone said "I'm going deep". Then 5 kids are all running deep together. I almost think in our huddle, 4 guys are saying: "The a-gap is mine". Then they all run over each other.

This is a good question. Maybe someone well-informed can explain our blitz packages to other teams' blitz packages. Our "all or nothing" blitz package is awful. I'm not a Zimmer hater, but he really needs to change this part of our defense.

Because on our Farm, all we got is two Chickens, a duck, a goat and one spider named Charlotte, I think.

:D

Not enough Bulls coming out the gate.

;)

I'am not a Zimmer hater either, but maybe a change there next year wouldn't be to bad.

Someone brought it up in another post, and IMO it has alot to do with the failure of our blitz. Stunting, we simply don't do it. When you start crossing up offensive linemen with stunts, then a LB can get through up the middle.

Not sure if this is Parcells or Mike Z. - but if we would put in more stunts, I be willing to bet our blitz would improve drastically.

I think both Parcells and Zimmer place a higher priority on "containment," a conservative defensive philosophy. They don't want to give up the big play on a reverse, a screen, a shovel pass, a draw, or a QB scramble. If they could count on their DBs not to give up the long pass, this would be a very viable approach. More aggresive defensive play goes all out on the blitz and doesn't try to contain things. Obviously, our safeties are not always up to the task. Over the years, though, we've done pretty well with this approach. Maybe we'll do even better with it when the young players gain more experience.

We don't know how to disguise the blitz and we tip off the blitz as soon as we line up.

Zimmer needs to watch the Eagles game tapes and learn how to blitz.
