Why is Kellen Moore considered a good playcaller?

He is awful

The irony is that the remnants of Garrett is going to cost McCarthy

moore is bleeping awful

because the offense was nr 1 last year ( based on points or yards , dont know )

He is aawful.

The question is easy to answer….because HoF member Jerry says he is.

Probably because his offenses have been at or near the top. Only reason I can think of. He seems to make the wrong call at crucial times.

Have patience, he's still in training and only 4 years into the 10 year Jerry plan.

I actually think we have a pretty good offensive scheme overall but he's a terrible play caller. He tries to be too clever and comes unstuck because of it.

Part of the reason for years teams say they know what play is coming . Garrett had the out execute them philosopy that worked with Jimmys talent

moore doesn’t have that and does tend to go to pass when pressured.

our 2 back run game is proving to be helpful to open up the pass but don’t go to pass too quickly Especially now as it looks like Dak needs time to get back in sync with receivers.

I don’t recall one pass where he actually lead someone on the move

Beats the living daylights out of me. KMoore is an OC that people are trying to speak into existence as a Guru, while the TV experts never question.

Another excuse regarding KMoore.

I'm glad Moore is getting grief. That was terrible yesterday. He went away from everything that was working recently and went back to the same plays that Dak was struggling with to close last season. The stuff that worked was the things Dallas had been running. Get Dak out of shotgun on 1st and 2nd down. More play action.

The defense totally saved Dallas' butts yesterday. Without the turnovers, I'm not sure Dallas scores 14 points against the worst defense in the NFL.

Not on this forum....at least the majority. Most hate him, including me. He has no knack for the flow of a game, the personnel on the field, or the weaknesses of defenses. Seems to call plays out of his arse and then goes back to his pass, pass, pass using Dak as a pocket passer, or what i would refer to....... a sitting duck. But hey, that is just IMHO, of course.

Is there a decent analysis of in game KM play calling and strategy. The Chief's game last night seemed to be gushing over the offensive play calling and could explain (to us laymen) what the objective was and how they executed (on most plays). Romo does tend to call the plays well, but doesnt seem to add the contextual analysis about the wider defensive strategy and opinions about the strategic way to overcome any issues imho

As you say KM just seems to dial up the plays not because of a strategic necessity, but because it's time to throw in a Jet Sweeps or trick play for the sake of it.....for instance why play a Jet Sweep when the defense is already committed to stopping our run offense (when we've got Pollard who can run outside?)
