Why is Romo not protected by the refs?

I see him battered, late hits, hit to the head etc without a call but all other QBs seem to be protected as if they are china dolls.

The diabetic today was barely touched by Olshansky but we got 15 yards. McNumbnuts was barely hit today (and last week) and 15 was thrown against him.

Should Romo start whining about the lack of respect the refs give him compared to other QBs?

Yeah I normally don't even get into these refs blew a call discussions but Romo has been getting torn up the past few years and half a dozen roughing passer penalties have went unflagged.

I have absolutely noticed the same thing. He could be mutilated on the field and never draw a flag. It's unbelievable. It's been going on for years.

Why? I don't know but I have my suspicions. Romo almost NEVER gets a roughing call.

I've noticed Romo doesn't get the benifit of doubt on intentional grounding. McNabb through one last week and wasn't called for it.

I feel like the refs are much more nic picky on the Cowboys.

Also, what was up with the spotting the ball by the refs before the half. They clearly didn't spot the ball correctly.

Romo hasn't been called for a single attentional grounding in his entire career, just fyi.

The refs did spot the ball correctly. Watch the Bears' center Olin Kruetz when they line up. He stretches the ball out to the first down marker and nobody notices. They had the first without even taking the snap because of that. The Cowboys actually would have stopped them if that was at the original line of scrimmage.

Here is an article.

Tony Romo was flagged for intentional grounding with four minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys were driving into Giants territory. Romo’s pass sailed left and the refs initially did not throw a flag. The refs consulted one another and within 10 seconds a flag was thrown.

Uh, don't need a link for that totally absurd call in the 2007 playoff game when he wasn't even pressured and threw it out of bounds.

That's intentional grounding. We're talking about attentional grounding.
