Why is the draft starting late this year ?

This may seem like a foolish question, I know the draft is starting later this year but I was curious as to why ?

Yeah, 3PM EST is ridiculously late to start the draft. Think about it this way: Each team gets 10 minutes for the first round. The first 6 picks could take up to an hour. 32 picks can take a little over 5 hours, so the first round won't be over until after 8PM EST. The second round will take approx. 3 hours. So that means teams will still be picking around 11PM EST. I guess it works out well for those on the Pacific but it blows for those of us on the East.

If they're not careful, they're going to lose some benjies on this. There are millions of fans who have gotten used to, and in fact very much look forward to, spending this entire day in front of the TV. We are not necessarily going to switch over to spending an entire Saturday night doing the same thing.

I won't be watching it like I usually do but that's of course in large part because we don't pick until 51. We'll see about next year...

You're right. I have things to see, people to do..lol. I can't spend all night in front of the TV too. I love the draft, but man, I might have to miss the majority of the second round, which unfortunately is the most interesting for us Cowboy fans.
