Why it’s imperative the Dallas Cowboys win early
http://thelandryhat.com/2016/07/19/imperative-dallas-cowboys-win-early/

If the Dallas Cowboys want to make a playoff run, it’s imperative that they take advantage of their early schedule to make a statement.

The NFL is unlike any other sport.

In any other major team sport, it’s a lot easier to start out slow and make your way back into the thick of things.

For one, the number of games you have in hockey (82), basketball (82) or baseball (162) lends a helping hand to those that do not come out firing from day one.

For another, the number of playoff spots in hockey and basketball, comparative to the number of teams in the league allows for over half the league to make the playoffs.

In the NFL however, you only have sixteen games to tell the story of your year. There are only six spots available to continue play in each conference meaning nine teams miss out.

That alone is enough of a reason to really want to hit the ground running.

For the Dallas Cowboys, it’s not only imperative they do so, it’s crucial...

The 1st two games are critical in a way. As they are against division opponents. Not that a team couldn't overcome the losses or a loss. But starting out 0-2 would not be good.
However the way the NFCE goes anymore, it may not matter.

I'm hoping to get through the first four games at 2-2 minimum. And if both defensive ends return in good form after that, maybe the team can make a playoff run.

Looking at the schedule, I think that is completely doable. I would think 3-1 to 4-0 is not unlikely, with Chicago and Washington as the greatest potential for a L.

I have higher expectations for them. I will be disappointed with anything less than 3-1. If they play efficiently they can will all 4 honesty.

It's so dumb to watch early season games where the rosters are depleted because of players smoking pot or taking offseason recreational drugs. The beginnings of season are rough enough before teams come together. It'd be nice to see everybody starting out with their best 53.

I will be extremely surprised if Dallas does not go at least 3-1. The Giants are the only game that scares me because they have played well in Dallas and should have won last year even thought they were a .500 team. Washington will have a wake up call week 2. Dallas 31 Indigenous peoples 17

This.
There are no more gimmies in this league and every game is as important as the next. As the season plays out we always look back and say "Dang, if we could have just won that game in September or October, we would have gotten in the playoffs or home field advantage". And of course as the season plays out some games start to become more crucial for playoff contention within the division. Ultimately even if you play average ball early and go on a run or 2 later in the season it's a good sign. The key is who is hot and healthy at the end of December.

How would you feel about the season outlook if we did start 4-0 without our 2 best DE's and Ezekiel, Dez and Romo were lighting the world on fire?

How could you not feel anything but excited? And optimistic for a really special season? That would be amazing!

Somewhere it is being lost that Bill Parcells, with the Cowboys, stated that being able to start a season running is very important a task. That has to be prepared for as well...
