It's also important the Cowboys win late.
First, a team has to secure the platform into the playoffs. Then, it also has to grow through the black 'n blue December.

Tony owns the Giants, especially opening day.
How could you not feel anything but excited? And optimistic for a really special season? That would be amazing!
Yeah, but Tom Coughlin helped him last year, and the Giants TE fumbled twice in the 4th quarter the year before or the Giants probably win both. Luck has been rolling Tony's way lately, but it tends to come back around. Eli has not had a bad game yet at that stadium. Just sayin

Every win counts the same.
I'm hoping to get through the first four games at 2-2 minimum. And if both defensive ends return in good form after that, maybe the team can make a playoff run.
Why it’s imperative the Dallas Cowboys win early
http://thelandryhat.com/2016/07/19/imperative-dallas-cowboys-win-early/
If the Dallas Cowboys want to make a playoff run, it’s imperative that they take advantage of their early schedule to make a statement.
The NFL is unlike any other sport.
In any other major team sport, it’s a lot easier to start out slow and make your way back into the thick of things.
For one, the number of games you have in hockey (82), basketball (82) or baseball (162) lends a helping hand to those that do not come out firing from day one.
For another, the number of playoff spots in hockey and basketball, comparative to the number of teams in the league allows for over half the league to make the playoffs.
In the NFL however, you only have sixteen games to tell the story of your year. There are only six spots available to continue play in each conference meaning nine teams miss out.
That alone is enough of a reason to really want to hit the ground running.
For the Dallas Cowboys, it’s not only imperative they do so, it’s crucial...
While agree with this..
another thing this team needs to do is score early.
Too much in our offense we try to run the ball alot and want to keep the score close going into the 4th qt.
Too often this requires us to have Romo come back from deficits to win games.
We need to put more pressure on the other team to have to change their gameplans each week.
Just as important is game clock management is..
if we can gain leads and stay ahead..
defense becomes easier as defending the run goes out the window and we run more DBs and pass rushers instead of worrying about playaction stuff.
Easier said than done..but Linehan needs to come out more aggressive than he was last year.
Just saying.
Linehan needs to come out more aggressive than he was last year.
Wait so you mean Dallas is somehow the only team who can't afford a bad start to be successful? Amateur article. No team can afford a bad start and hope for success. It's not how a league with only 16 games is set up.

10 teams

This teams two suspended DEs isn't what is going to get us wins and loses. It is our running game and keeping Romo healthy that will get us Ws which is why I don't even care about the two dummies being suspended.
You have to stop your opponents at some point, no matter how potent your own offense might be. If this team hopes to win games, the defense needs to be at least middle of the pack. And based on what's on paper, that would mean exceeding expectations.
Good thing we don't play on paper then.
actually 20 it said NFL not NFC
